As someone pointed out on Facebook, 'it's like a leaping salmon being machine gunned'.

I would have insisted he leave the pitch on a stretcher and not come back on again.

Funniest thread I've seen in some time.

What was the final decision of the referee after all?

Captain's armband too? What an example to set. If these guys are "talented" I always wonder why they also have to show such a pathetic side to their nature.

Agree. I'm probably too lenient and over tolerant of this kind of tomfoolery.

Reminds me of the difference between football and rugby...

Football is 90 minutes of pretending you have been hurt; rugby is 80 minutes pretending you haven't.

This is precisely why they should introduce rugby referees to football matches. I'd also want to see anyone rolling over more than once or staying down for more than 30 seconds (unless it's cramp or something easily sorted) taken off on a stretcher and not allowed back on the pitch again. If it's that bad (bearing in mind they seem to come out fine when everyone piles on goal scorers to celebrate and they all get back up again just fine) they need to have medical treatment. All penalties and goals get looked at on replays before the referee makes his final decision and anyone trying to cheat gets punished retrospectively with bans and so on.

I bet Billy Bremner is turning in his grave, what an absolute joke. I'd love to have seen him after Dave Mackay had given him a kick!

I don't disagree though I have some sympathy for those who worry about it slowing the game down. The other thing from rugby that would be a benefit would be post-match citing for diving and other cheating - I imagine, though, that any financial penalties would have to be fairly penurious before any of the players would actually notice.

It's a source of constant worry that some of the mores from football are gradually seeping into rugby as it becomes more professional.
