Don't do this to me.... I need to order a new pair of Edwin Nashvile's as both current pairs have holes in places that work do not like having holes. ;)

I discovered Hawksmill Denim Co. recently and a pair of their Loose Tapered and Slim Tapered arrived today. I like both fits so that's cost me more than I thought

Having read about Uniqlo on this thread, I’ve been wearing a pair of their slim stretch selvedge for the past few weeks. Early days of course but the fit is as good as the expensive jeans I’ve had (Hiut etc) and the price is rather attractive too!

Another recent Uniqlo owner here - have to say, very impressed, especially at the price I paid!

These are now a year old and have been worn around 200 times. I’m going to wash them now.

Update: I know washing is an often asked question so I’ll post this for reference. I washed them as per the Huit website and they’ve come out perfectly. They’ve retained their raw feel that machine wash loses:

Small amount of detergent into a shallow bath of cold water
    Sloosh around a bit
Leave fully submerged for at least 45 mins
Empty bath and refill with cold water, sloosh them around to rinse
    Repeat another two times
Roll up and squeeze out excess water
    Line dry
    Iron when 90% ish dry
how can you increase the intensity of a push up

    Bit of an update/thread resurrection….

These straight fit Selvedge Uniqlo jeans are now six months old. I bought 2 pairs so thought I would do a side by side shot of the worn and washed vs the unworn.
The heavy wear on the top right hand side is caused by a sharp belt buckle.
Taken in natural light the colours are pretty accurate.
These have been worn most, if not every day and washed, on average, every few weeks.
I cold washed them when I first had them to soften them up.
I would say they have lost about 1/2 inch in length, and the legs are very slightly narrower. The waist size has remained the same.

Hope it’s of some help/interest to anyone considering them!

They've come up pretty nicely! Are they still available? I got some cream ones from Uniqlo to try the colour and am impressed for the price.

They are available online but not in many sizes. I’ve been impressed all-round really.

I bought two pairs of the cream ones as I was unsure on sizing, but the 33 inch ones are a bit big in the waist for me so I'm unlikely to wear them. Nice red stripe in the selvedge.

I'm 46, married, 2 young kids. I don't care what I look like of a weekend or day off, so quite happy with £12 supermarket jeans. 'Invested' in 4 or 5 pairs of Levi's a few years back, in the hope they'd last a bit longer, but nope, worn through on the knees and knackers just as quick. Back to £12 Asda jobs for me since

I have many new pairs of jeans, all diesel, but cannot sit on the sofa with them as unfinished leather, cannot sit in my car as alcantara seat centres, garden room is then white linen, same issue.

Bloody annoying to say the least. Let alone not washing them to stop the transfer.

Likewise; I'm 49, married, two young kids and definitely care what I look like every day. Thanks for introducing me to Unbranded, I might just have to partake in a pair of 18oz bad boys.

EDIT: I went all-out and got the 21oz!!

I was unsure about the 18oz weight, and they are stiff, but they fit well and I can see them wearing in and looking top in a few months. Great winter jeans.

Wow these are soooo heavy!! I reckon at least six months of daily wear to break them in. Quality is excellent and size perfect.

Just checked and the heaviest denim I have is 13.75oz which isn’t exactly thin, so 18oz it is! Ordered placed. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just picked up my first pair Edwin in a sale and I'm impressed feel a step up from my current pair of wrangler. I'm already looking at another pair and at Nudie what else would anyone recommend? Also is denim as much as a collecting / buying rabbit hole as watches?

i have a one in, one out policy so always have a crisp deep indigo pair on the go and 4-5 pairs of different fades and then the ‘DIY’ pairs that are blown somewhere like the knee or crotch (i cycle in them sometimes)
plenty of edwin’s/Albam but now moved up a notch with Blackhorse lane.
have a trip to japan in September so expect to up my game a bit and bring a couple of pairs back from the selvage motherland of indigo.

There's Edwin and there's Edwin, then there's Nudie and there's Nudie. It's all about the denim, the weight and the cut.

Nudie mostly uses organic cotton, but do some cotton/elastane mixes. They also do selvedge, raw and standard denim in different weights. They do straight cut and skinny, or loose and baggy.

Same with Edwin. Some Edwin I've had are utter pants, cheaply made and not worthy of the name. Others have been superb but unfortunately not made anymore. Most are pretty good though.

Look for pre-washed (samforised) selvedge raw denim in a cut you like and go from there.

I mentioned Unbranded jeans a few posts back. Quality denim at reasonable prices because there's no marketing to pay for.

Jean Store have a sale on now as well:

I’ve bought 7 pairs of hiut over the years including a number of limited runs. They’re amazing jeans and last a life time. But my issue is I don’t seem to stay the same size and fashions change. I’ve gone from a 34 waist to a 32 and their slim cut is still quite baggy. So I’ve got a bunch of brilliant jeans that don’t quite fit perfectly

  41. #441
I have Edwin ED47 jeans which are regular straight and a pair of Armani regular straight. I then purchased Edwin ED55 which is slimmer fitting and all of a sudden my other jeans felt huge in comparison. I visited a local alterations shop who did the job perfectly, which was about £10 from memory.

I will have to lose this WFH weight however if I want to wear them comfortably.

Have two pairs of Edwin’s and they are my favourite jeans. I do wear Uniqlo day to day though.

  44. #444
Is it a characteristic of selvedge denim to be really stiff at first and then becoming softer? I was looking at the Edwin page (https://jeanstore.co.uk/collections/...&sort=featured) and some of the jeans seem to be bunching or sticking out in certain places down the leg (ED-47, Nihon Menpu, ED-55).

Generally speaking, heavier denim will be stiff at first and soften up over time with regular wear. If you don't want any sticky out bits then go for a slimmer cut and a shorter length. Also look at other shops photos and real life fit pics online to get a better feel of how certain models fit.

You're also best measuring a pair of your own jeans that you feel fit you best and looking for some that match those..

    Hi there,

I wanted you to give you the heads up:
On Monday morning, we are reluctantly having to increase our prices.
In essence, all of our suppliers have had to put their prices up. I even got a letter from our Milk man this week saying the same.
And, ultimately, we are down river of all of them.
If we want to stay in business, we need to do the same.
I am proud that we work with the best mills. The best denim. The best buttons. Rivets. Thread. And the best grandmasters sew the jeans.
I love that we make one of best pairs of jeans on the planet. And, hopefully, for the planet.
So I very much want to stay in business. I want Hiut to be here in 100 years time.
So yeah, I just wanted to give you a heads up.
We will be increasing the prices of our jeans on Monday morning. So for now, grab a pair of Hiut's for today's price rather than Monday's.
Thank you again for all your support and believing in us.
    Inflation sucks.
    Best from the west,
