My 33" waist, 32" leg selvedge jeans have been excellent. 2yrs old now and still good.

Looks like a hole not a fade TBH.

Yes, it is a patched hole. Which started as a fade!

    New Hiuts

Well then, fellow denim aficionados, my 2 prs Hiut's have just arrived. I have one pair of Work Selvedge and one pair of Hack Selvedge. I followed the measuring instructions on the site and both pairs fit well, the relaxed fit is more relaxed, and the slim is err, slimmer. So far so good.

    So what happens now?

    Will they stretch?
They feel pretty comfortable - what's all this about break in?
Do I need to sit in the bath with them on?
I ordered 34/32, they come up a bit long in the leg - is that so I can do the turn up thing? If I don't want the turn up, is it socially acceptable to turn them up on the inside?
It says don't wash them for 6 months. How does that translate into wear-days?
They're 14.5oz denim, but they don't feel any different to my Nudie's
Will I be able to walk into Shoreditch and be accepted as an equal, or will the hipsters suss me out?

Turn ups on the inside? Maybe get them pressed with a nice crease down the middle while you are at it? :-)

Turning them under looks like a solicitor on dress down Friday, apologies if you are a solicitor.

They will stretch out a bit with wear but shrink back a little on their first wash. Leave it as long as you can before first wash, watch out for transfer of indigo onto furnishings and other clothes but I doubt Hiut overdye massively.
If they are overlong you can get them shortened and chain stitched but do that after any shrinkage, I just roll the turn up.

I never wash any of my jeans although I usually wear Carhartt which is a very different price point but same applies with the odd Evisu, RL and Diesel pairs I own.

Maybe that's the Irish farmer in my DNA and not so much the Zone 1 trendy?

Just stumbled across this thread and wish Iíd found it sooner.

Can I get some denim advice please.

Iíve bought Nudie jeans for the last 8 years but would like to try something a bit different. Iím London based for work and Iíve done some research and it looks like Son of a stag and Rivet and hide are 2 specialist stores that do a wide range of Japanese denim.

Has anyone been to these stores or are there others I should consider?

Are there any brands I should look out for?

    Thanks
    David

Really friendly staff and pure denim porn

That label sown across the angled seam would do my head in.

Thanks - I see thats had a thread resurrection. So far so good, but it's only a week or so. The freezer is full of cat meat so I'm not sure I'll find space, but maybe airing them on the line will help, but no bad niff so far.

On a non Jean but cool British gear front, anyone tried the HebTroCo? Might try a pair of the black canvas as a change from jeans.

I like the style. They look black but it says dark navy. Like the tan ones, although I already have some similar Momotaro ones that I love.

Yes, I k ow just what you mean, I had a belt custom made for me with the right hole perfectly centred just before I lost a load of weight and now am wearing it comfortably on a hole tighter.

    Quality is excellent.... got the

    Moleskins
    Cords
    Dark blue older guvnor canvas
    New stone canvas jeans
    Chinos

hmm writing that down was a bad idea... hence why i am annoyed as all are a bit big now.....

Have both straight cut and tapered.. lovely fit and well put together.
    Reality sizing not vanity..
Also have the cord shirt/tshirts etc - very much a favourite shop
of mine now. Nice guys as well trying to put british manufacture
    back on the map !

    cheers

Iíll be interested to hear how the pockets hold up. I had three pair, and the pockets needed darned in no time at all. Twice each. I carry some loose change in my pockets, and it devoured the pockets.

Ok, they were fixed for free, but they went again in no time.

Such a shame as the jeans looked great, but that finished me with Hiut.

With difficulty. Your hands will be blue too but they do 'calm down' after a while. Try to resist resorting to washing them too soon (if raw denim).
