Recently acquired from SC - Ball Hydrocarbon Mad Cow, lovin it

  2. #2102
New to me from SC, I guess I am the 3rd owner on here but this is not likely to be going on to a 4th as it's my first significant purchase and I'm smitten with its looks.
Bought blind and so much nicer in the flesh than any pic, having tried the standard MK XVIII in store which didn't grab me I'm glad I went with applied numerals. If I ever see a silver dialled non UTC spitfire at a nice price I might be tempted too.
Just need to look at alternative staps, maybe something in plain brown vintage leather.

I love the newer version with the bright orange hand. Def nicer than the old one. By a million miles the closest I've come to buying a Rolex. One day maybe...

Having bought a black dialled GV and selling just over a year ago, I realised that it was a favourite and it is the only watch I regret selling.

So, I picked this one up yesterday. Decided to give the blue dial a try instead of buying back exactly the same watch. Hopefully not a mistake, but love the sunburst blue dial. Just missing the orange markers at 3, 6, 9

It is the same orient yes, but the dial changes dramatically depending on the light, and yes, it has a power reserve at 12:00.

It is the Orient M Force SEL07002H.

Fed up with the underwhelming feeling I was receiving when wearing my ss Daytona.
Looked good on the photos but bad in the mirror and looking down at it.

    Swapped for these:

    Excuse the below average images
    I'm more than happy

Problem with this thread is that you scroll from where you last read in order to post your arrival and you see something you like......

    And off we go again!!

I believed it was made in Japan. But I'm not an officianado so it would need checking!!!!

The watches are Japanese made, but some are done exclusively for certain markets - I assume that is what was meant here.

I think it might have been a reference to the fact that the watch is upside down in the pictures.

Added this to my Speedy Pro gaggle today

Found this, in really mint condition. Lovely (if you like this sort of thing)!
Omega Speedmaster Schumacher 'The Legend Collection' Co-Axial 321.32.44.50.01.001
Told this was a 'limited edition' but that probably means limited to however many they could sell (?!)

I also have my first Speedy Pro I bought new in 1985. Its finally off for a good servicing, at STS.
Happy to have advice on which Speedy's are worth collecting, as I'm a newbie.
    Apologies for poor pic.

Just arrived through the post. Immediately took off the thin mesh bracelet and put it on a (also arrived today) Zulu400 rubber.

Lovely case, orange is much more vintage in the flesh, like a softly faded yellow. Good size. Rubber is well made too. Actually smells nice also, I think they put vanilla on there...

I think there's amazing value here.

This is actually the 40mm version, but the perspective in the photo does make it look large.

I know the newer version, with the date at 4 o'clock, has been increased to 42mm but I haven't seen it first-hand, so can't comment on whether that is too large or not.

The 40mm certainly wears nicely though.

This arrived a few days ago and first impressions are that both the watch and mesh are lovely to wear. The timekeeping is another thing entirely as currently a disappointing +80spd meaning my most expensive watch is also my least accurate by over a minute a day! I'm going to keep it running for a week in the hope it might sort itself after not being worn regularly but if not it'll have to go off to be regulated.
