Nice one. Citizen never cease to impress me, the quality of even their cheapest efforts is remarkable - they never seem to lose track of the importance of functionality in a watch.

    Seiko SJE083J1

Every bit as nice as my SBGR095 and slightly larger so maybe better for larger wrists.

It's a beaut, and I don't even hate the date window which I thought I would after seeing the launch photos.

Excuse the poor photo but utterly charmed by the arrival of the Alsta.

Everything I would want in a dress watch. Is lovely.
The strap loos great quality but so would have preferred tan or cognac.
Enjoy it as long as you own it.

I always regret selling my SBGV009, which had a similar vibe…

Just got home from the smartphone store...I traded in my three year-old Samsung Note 8 for the new Note 20 Ultra 5G:

    • 6.9" display (3088x1440 pixels)
    • 120Hz refresh rate
    • 4500 mAh battery
    • 7nm 64-bit Octa-Core processor - 3.0 GHz
    • 12GB RAM
    • 128GB storage
    • 1.0TB MicroSD slot
    • Triple rear cameras (12MP/108MP/12MP); 5x optical zoom
    • 10MP front selfie camera
    • 1080p FHP video

    Gotta learn it now!

Thank you. I have really taken to it. Seiko's pics bear no relationship to the reality. Yes I am a flipper but I cannot see what other watch would replace this one for semi-formal wear. I think it is marvellous in its simplicity. I bought it at a decent price expecting to flip it and buy a Bucherer Black Bay before they are discontinued however when I opened the lovely piano wood box it really put a spanner in the works as this baby is staying (for now)

Loving it. Have always had a G for a worky watch to save the wear and tear on the nice mechanicals.. first time with compass/ step tracker/ barometer etc which are useful for me. biggest problem is working out how to work all the functions.. Also loving this I picked up at the same time.

Well, this is a sad incoming post, I'm afraid. Just received the beautiful 6-month old Longines Spirit from this forum but a) I don't have the screwdriver, the eyesight and a hand steady enough to add one of the spare links and I don't want to risk marking it (also don't have the patience to wait for someone else to do it) and b) having recently bought a Seiko Presage of roughly the same size, I'd convinced myself I could wear a more normal-sized piece rather than the dinner plates I normally choose for my hairy ape-like wrist but, I'd forgotten to take into account that differently-shaped watches can wear completely differently (doh!). The Seiko is all dial whereas this has a more crafted case around it. Shame because it was an absolute bargain.

Here it is placed on my wrist without being fastened.

Looks great on you. I have a lovely black leather strap that came with the watch when I originally purchased it from Ben and has been worn once, by Ben. I’ll send this to you if you’d like it and then at least you can wear it on the strap until you get the bracelet adjusted, I think it’s pins and collars from memory.
I loved the watch but it was traded back to Ben for his MM300 and you’re right it was a bargain at that price.

Happy to adjust the bracelet for you. Pop it on the leather and send the bracelet to me I will sort for you pal.

Is it your way of saying it wears smaller than you'd like it to? If so, I disagree, looks like a very well matched size for your wrist. Congrats, I have to have a look at the 40mm Spirit myself, because when I was trying them on a couple of months ago, I wasn't aware they came in different sizes.

Sorry, just seen this. You've since also kindly messaged me with the offer of the strap. As I said in my reply, this is what makes this such a great community.

Thank you Gav. That's a very nice gesture. As has since been pointed out to me, the bracelet is actually a split pin arrangement which I could deal with. However, I'm going to let it go due to my preference for slightly larger watches. Going to use the funds for something else completely which could totally change the shape of the collection once more. Incidentally, regards the Damasko DC86, was told on Thursday it'll be another 2 weeks in the factory.

It's a bugger to photograph, especially with my very average skills, but here you go. Changes colour from near black to bright red depending on light.
First time I've had a G with bluetooth and the connected app, makes setting it up a doodle.

I just ordered one of these 40nine watches for kicks! Love the styling and the price ($85) is right.

I have one of these MM200s incoming tomorrow - the SPB187. I was swithering about this for some time as I already have several very nice divers. The MM300 has been a long time attraction but the size and weight of it means that I wouldn't enjoy wearing it. I once sold a PO 8500 42mm for those reasons.

But with the release of this second generation of MM200s which more accurately replicate the case shape and hands of the MM300, I was pushed to buy. I had initially thought I might wait for Seiko to release a version with the black dial from the SPB185 and the SPB187's black bezel. However, when I saw the result from a mod on a YouTube channel, it looked too much like any other diver, so the blue SPB187 it was. The price seems to have fallen recently on these, which meant that after a busy month at work, I could afford it. :)

    Pic borrowed from the internet.
