Had that been what I wanted, that is what I would have bought. Fact is, just one 140 went into space, and had it not been stolen in a burglary of Sinn's premises, it would still have been massively more expensive than I could ever dream of affording. Lemania 5100 movement is a nice curiosity - but plastic components and - according to a watchmaker friend - a bit of a sod to service. So yeah, there's a reason why originals are cheaper, and several important reasons why I wanted the reissue.
Double incoming: grey perlon and greyhound just arrived!
First perlon and first dog. Both brilliant...although one is better suited to this heat than the other!

Just posted this on the sunshine thread but thought it had better go here too.
Picked it up today. It really is a beautiful thing and the fact there only 50 in the world makes it a bit special in my eyes.

Fair enough
That'll be two, Flade and Furrer wore them.
And I was advocating the model, not the acutal example, as I suspect you know.
The point is that the Lemania 5100 was chosen and used for clarity (central minutes) and shock resistance, something that the modified 7750 has much less capability to withstand.
Sinn are perfectly happy to service 5100s, as are many guys who know them.
I perfectly understand your points, but I believe that it ususally makes more sense to buy the original rather than the re-issue.
Unless the re-issue is significantly cheaper, or the only thing available.
Here neither is the case, the original is cheaper and available, so that would have been my choice. I respect yours, but prefer mine, even if it isn't a Sinn.
Quick and dirty of my first new arrival since falling off the watch wagon! Picked one of these up before the prices become completely insane. In need of a little TLC but there is a tonneau-shaped hole in the collection that this will fill nicely.
Ordered a Bell & Ross BR-S a couple of weeks back, just been told is being shipped.I know the stock strap won’t fit my wrist ,so first job will be to sort a replacement.
On the wrist in store and in the sun on my way home, very happy with it

Picked this up from Vince / Snoodles last week and it’s just been into Goldsmiths to get a new Rolex strap fitted. Very pleased!

Well I've been out of the game for a few years, but I'm sure I remember seeing them at a couple of hundred quid absolute tops back then. Now they seem to be £400 for a dodgy looking example and up to well over a grand depending on who's selling it. For the W10's that is, not sure about the other variants.
I received this beautiful Hanhart Pioneer Twin-control today from Jim (Jimmcb )This is my first watch
from the brand and I am really impressed with the quality of every aspect of the watch.
Lovely, glad you picked this up as I was having sleepless nights over this & now I can relax. Bit sad to be unable to buy due to Mrs Nealywheelie imposing a watch embargo for the foreseeable. The Baume that I purchased off SC recently did not go down well & I'm still feeling the aftershocks!

Seiko 7548-7000. An eBay impulse buy, but in far nicer condition than I was expecting.
In love :)

Posted this over in the Mido GMT thread. just arrived

Having got down to three watches, I have adopted the policy of one in, one out if I want something else. Every watch box needs a Blue dial and Paul (Papa Hotel) listed a cracker, but in order to get it something had to go, so it was time to wave goodbye to the 1980 CWC Fatboy pictured above and a trade was agreed.
Clearly a watch based on a number of others with more than a hint of Gerald Genta and AP in there, without being a direct homage of a specific watch. I now have my Blue dial and have not exceeded my three watch limit.
Love that & the original story behind it being made. Was this the one from TZ?
