Well done. I just love Marathons. Today they hold the real life position that Rolex and Omega used to have. An affordable tool watch at slightly higher price than their competitors due to their credentials and history. And you can take them where you would never take your Sub, etc... and I think they look great too.

I wish - I’ve got an hour then I’m off up to the Toon again. Next weekend, all being well.

Well enjoy it up in Byker Grove land. They'll think it's just run of the mill from H Samuel up there so you should be safe!

The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

Technically not new but back after a long time away with Marathon for servicing (3 months) I can highly recommend Marathon for servicing they were great.
The MSAR and CSAR returned today.
I opted to keep the MSAR all original, the CSAR has had the works, new dial, hands, case bezel it’s a right trigger broom but like a brand new watch.

I’ve got the same collection! Except the Tudor Harrods have been getting all the wrist time.

I’ve been after a good one for ages and this is a Stella example as new condition.

An exquisite addition to the collection I hope you agree. Will be mainly used as a dress watch.

Loving that ..... coming to SC in about 4 days !?

The dial is classic JLC and coincidentally not a new incoming for me, but my father in law picked up this 1969 Atmos at an auction in non-working order and yesterday it was delivered by specialist clock repairer who has done a fantastic job on it. Look at the similarities on the dial

Expensive lunch for me. Called into the Trafford Centre and spotted this in the window! Couldn’t resist.

Until I size the bracelet, onto a Zulu Diver canvas. Very pleased with it!

Definitely wasn’t looking to add another, this year has been mental and I don’t flip (at the moment!), but had a chance to pick up a BB58 from my AD at a great price, so it would be rude not to.

I now understand the hype on here, a lovely watch to wear and looks great

Apologies if I missed the post / thread, but do you have more details? This is an interesting little conversion and more worthy of a thread than the usual "I got the call to simply spend money on a standard steel rolex" (which usually gets 2 pages of replies). Was £80 the watchmakers cost, or did that include the dial? (surely not). More photos! Again, sorry if I missed a thread on this.

I would imagine that's the fitting of the dial cost. You'll struggle to find a panda dial now and the cost are rising all the time if you are lucky enough to find one. My dial cost me £750 with the hands.

New arrival this week - something I have been looking at for some time - the Egg-Master II. Perfect for timing my poached eggs (seeing as I don’t have a yacht, or compete in any kind of Regatta)

The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

Over the past few months the yearning for a 5 digit submariner had grown to a point where I’d seriously started looking at them as my next acquisition. So I narrowed it down to the 16610 late model (2008/2009) with the engraved rehaut and all the other modifications.

Found one last week, agreed a deal in principle with a view to meeting at the weekend and picking it up. Unfortunately, in the interim, the seller got a slightly better offer and sold it.

Having missed out on that one, kept looking and found a couple down south to view. So having a choice of two, I thought it would be worth the 400mile round trip.

When I arrived I was disappointed again. One of the watches was badly polished and the other had significant marks to the crystal - which was quite surprising as it looked like a genuine Rolex sapphire.

Fast-forward a couple of hours and I’ve got the tube into Hatton Garden. All I can say is what an experience! So daunting trying to buy a watch there. You will find all sorts, from decent older watches with paperwork etc, to current models that have obviously been messed around with.

So having nearly given up, another tube trip to Grays Antiques. I’d seen a YouTube video showing this place, full of small stalls, with dealers mostly selling used stock and some current grey market pieces.

Anyway I’ve come home with this little beauty:

    16610
    1998
    Tritium Dial

The condition of the watch suggests it’s been worn very little if at all.

    A very happy chap here.

I was resigned to coming home empty handed, so made it even sweeter when I found it just as the guy was closing his shop.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

That looks splendid. I was given a non-working Atmos a while ago so I’d be interested in knowing who sorted it out.
