Lovely watch, is that the LE SBGA125 ? I have one, it's one of my favourite watches

In my search for the ideal dress watch I turned up this beauty from Universal Geneve, which arrived yesterday.

The poor quality iPhone photos really don't do justice to both the dial and batons.

It certainly ranks as the thinnest watch I have ever worn!

That is very nice - is it an automatic?
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I’m still a season ticket buying Rolex fan, but I’ve come to not like the company as much as I like the watches so I’m giving the brand a rest for a while. For now, this will be my only watch (once I list the 2531 on SC and Gs don’t count naturally!!)

That could grow on me. The bracelet looks comfy. Any photo of clasp ?

This arrived today. Something totally different for me:

Was surprised by it's heftiness when I first picked it up, but so comfortable that it's not noticeable on the wrist.
Best of all though, it reminds me of hours spent studying the digital Casio's in the Argos catalogue as a kid.

Got this one yesterday - but the EOL indicator started flashing almost immediately - so off to Omega for a new battery - AD most apologetic and said they will cover any costs (although the boutique thought there should be none as it's in on the day of reciept). Interestingly the outer card box said date of manufacture as 04'14 so that probably gives an idea why the battery needs a change. Anyway - picture in huge box!

    Omega X-33 Solar Impulse!

The UG? No, it's manual wind with the Universal 820 movement.

Lovely. If I'm not mistaken, that's a tiny movement often used in ladies' watches. I have one with an 820 in:

There's a side benefit inasmuch as, if you need spare parts, there are normally plenty of donors on Ebay where the case has been scrapped.

    Very nice too!

The 800, 820 and 42 movements were all 8.75 ligne, so quite small though perhaps not exactly tiny, but from my limited knowledge they were used in a whole variety of watches for both men and ladies. Hopefully there's someone here with more expertise who can provide further details.

Case sizes back in the 60's were clearly a lot smaller than today. My UG measures a little over 30mm without the crown, but as a dress watch that really doesn't matter to me. Size-wise it is pretty much on a par with both my Girard-Perregaux and my Roidor. The two Omegas are fraction larger, but barely enough to notice when on the wrist.

I am definitely enjoying this one!

Thanks to a heads-up from GOAT, a UPS van dropped a package off this morning.

This version of the well known Mondaine stop2go commemorates the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. The bezel is made from cab doors from the legendary "Ae 6/6" Gotthard locomotives (AKA The Queen of Gotthard) which were retired when the new tunnel came into use.

Great value at $259 delivered, I'm dead chuffed with it.

Very nice, what a nice version to have as well. Has to be the definitive Mondaine.

Currently winging its way to me. I know they divide opinion but I've always wanted a U Boat, and the opportunity to grab one of the first ever made was too rare to pass up!

Also nearing completion of my own 'homemade' watches, first of which is more than a slight nod to the Planet Ocean.

Yup! Was pretty lucky this one was still available at a reasonable price, most are gone by now and they don’t come up on the secondary market very often.

Yeah, it’s the main reason why I swapped the snowflake for this. It’s slightly smaller, and the lugs are a bit different from the 44GS case

    Because it’s the 62GS not 44GS.

    Thank you

I have been thinking about getting one, ever since they were released.

It fits my wrist so perfectly and I love the slimness of he case.

My first blue dial watch, which sparkles in the sunlight.

I know there is controversy over where it’s made, who owns it, riding on a history that’s not theirs etc..., but I like it. 37mm is great on my wrist, it looks good and it is made well.

My brother bought it about 5 years ago from a dealer and I've always wanted to buy it from him.. finally pulled the trigger a couple of days ago! My wifes expecting our little boy in October so thought it would be a nice watch to buy and give him when he turns 18 - let's see if I can keep it in good condition for that long!!
