Thread: The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

I'd rather have either of the two you now own than the Daytona (resale value set aside) I just don't get the hype. Maybe it's one of those you need to see in the metal.

After trying both on I opted for the Sub, I have wanted one of these four liners for a few years and this is a 2011 full set in wonderful condition.

Whilst I was there I asked if I could see and try on one of their two white dial Ceramic Daytonas. Having followed the hype and viewed many images on here, I had never seen one in the flesh - they are beautiful, believe me.

As I am on the list at Goldsmiths, I had this image taken, so come the day I will stare at this image and make a choice. At least I own 50% of the watches in this image, just the wrong 50% in most people's eyes.

Thanks John, it was just nice to see and handle one. I had a white dialled 16520, but the new one feels a bit chunkier with the bloated insert and although the same size it looks and feels bigger.

The Sub is superb, haven't taken it off since I got home. As I have posted elsewhere, my dilema starts when I collect the Speedy Tuesday - one of the three has to go...

As things stand a Black Sub and White Speedmaster is a perfect pair.

If you like the Snoopy I'd suggest you keep it and sell the ST. Black Rolex, white Omega is a nice pair.

Thanks, I agree it is a decent pair - black, white, diver, chrono - what more could a man ask for.

I like the Omega "Apollo 13 tribute", but 45yrs? They must have been desperate to celebrate something, when they chose not to wait until 50yrs??

I'd wear the Omega long before the Rolex (daytona), that's for sure.

I'm a sucker for a smooth sweep. Just bought one of these from my local EJ as on sale:

Surely the CEO wants his bonus now and not to leave it to the next CEO. ;-)

Alternatively, it's possible to have both.

Thank you I have been a quartz snob for some years but I might just be converted. It's probably just that I have never had a high quality quartz watch.

It has been said that Zenith lost its direction. This El Primero (my first) is illuminating my watch journey rather well.

The Omega Rally strap was £115.
The invoice model reference is O98000024

It needs a deployant clasp: O94521813 which is £180 from Omega. There are cheaper non-Omega clasps on the internet but I don't have any experience of them.

Picked up this Bulova Lobster Chrono a few weeks back on SC thinking it would be this years holiday watch:-

A bit different, and very comfortable.

However, this Titanium homage just arrived today and I'm thinking this may be coming on holiday instead now:-

Ive ummmed and ahhhhh'd over this for ages. Really glad that I got over the gold fear and just did it. The matte dial, gilt and red is sublime in different lights.

For years I always thought the Rolex for me was a green bezel, black dial Sub (or variant).

Every time I see a Yachtmaster with that bezel, my mind changes a little bit more...

Just absolutely loving this, arrived from SC over the weekend:

The dial is almost a linen texture, the perfect grey/blue colour to go with just about every shirt, the red logo really contrasts nicely. The second hand has the smoothest sweep, just love it.

Really the perfect size for me. I've had a few vintage Omegas before, including some F300s, but only kept one (weirdly, the first one I ever got - a heavily patina'd Geneve), this one is definitely a keeper.

Cheers it arrived today and it's even better in the metal. Just feels so smooth and tactile and seems beautifully made. Over the moon with it!

    On the way

Stumbled across this on eBay after a couple of glasses of vino. Apparently a manual wind Russian military flight clock!

Thought it would look good as a desk clock, once I've worked out how to mount it

Picked this up on Tuesday after meeting up with nickk to hand over my sub he'd bought from me.

I chose the sub over the BLNR back in 2014 but have hankered after one ever since. Would love to have been able to keep both but not to be.

Great service (again) from David M Robinson's in Manchester

Stunning! Just hoping I get the call for mine before I go on tour for the summer cos then it'll most likely be back to square one! Enjoy it!

EDIT: The reason I favour the GMT over the Sub is the bezel. Far more interesting than the plain sub! Add the blue and it's game over IMO

Thanks, it is a beaut. I was only waiting about 6 weeks from going on the list

I had the black bezelled GMTc prior to getting the sub and decided the sub would look good whatever my age. lol. I'll get another sub one day I'm sure.

It really is great. My only other dress appropriate watch is my Tissot LeLocle which make me feel like the smartest guy alive but I will only wear that to wedding and other special occasions. But now to have this as more of a daily wearer, I now feel like a true gentleman most days

Just picked this one up…. It's called the Arsamatic…. Sounds like a 70's porn star with breathing difficulties…. However, slightly iffy name aside, It's a cracking ESPA cased super compressor and I'm guessing it's very rare as I've never seen one before…. Sunburst dial has almost a mirror like quality to it…. I'm smitten

Succumbed (again) and bought secondhand at a good price. Like it more on scruffy leather than on the original strap. Still a bit undecided!

I quite fancied another Zenith, but looks like I'm going to make do with this which arrived today:

It came well packed and neatly presented. Obviously not boxed up like a Rolex or in fact a Zenith, but at less than 10% of the cost of either of those, it is beautifully put together and I think it looks pretty good too.
