Thread: The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

Yes it's a 3712 and a COMPLETELY different watch to the 5712. If you don't behave, I'll bore you with the differences.

For the avoidance of doubt, I think you mean "5712/1A-001" there, correct? :-)

(Which, as per below, I now know it is not).

Is the 5712 really hard to get?

I like it, possibly more than the original if I'm honest.

    Apologise John :)

That will teach me not to look at it properly!

    Congratulations once again.

It's actually nowhere near as hard to get as the 3712, which was only made for a period of around 9 months. To my knowledge he 5712 has been made for around 10 years now. Estimates on the number of 3712's seem to range between 200 and 500. I don't know what the true figure is.

I was having no luck getting a 5712 at the right price and then I was offered a 3712 at a much higher price, but it somehow seemed a better price. You weren't hoping for logic were you?

Oh but that makes perfect sense! In your position I'd have gone for the 3712 as well.

Even at a higher price it sounds like better value for the rarer item. :-)

That's exactly it Mark. The 3712 will always be valued at a premium purely because of the rarity. As a watch, I think you'd have to be pretty picky to make a case for it being better or worse.

Purchased not working from Sales Corner. £2 for a battery and £3 for a pair of plastic tweezers and it's ticking away nicely. Quite possibly the best value watch I've ever had.

I picked this up for very little from eBay at the beginning of the year. It was missing a balance - I fancied a bit of a project.

Here it is up and running. I am waiting for Carl at GGB to take orders again and will get a Horween strap for it.

I know the relume on the hands will make some cringe but I rather like the contrast.

Was testing out an eBay snipe tool a week or so ago. It worked so this little Mido arrived today. Will need some love, but quite pleased with it. 18mm mesh on 19mm lugs for now

    A. Schild movement inside with the date quickset by pushing the crown. A new one for me.

Definately on the strap, I wouldn't keep the bracelet on it. You should sell the bracelet to me immediately so I can, um, dispose of it. (By putting it on my Monaco where it will look awesome) ;)

Been after a Speedmaster for ages, but so much choice. I decided that I wanted an automatic, but not overly keen on the newer ones with the little date window. I was then offered a reduced in trade for a watch I had listed for sale in SC and that was it. It is slightly smaller than the moon watch, but I like the layout of the face, especially the numbers at the five minute markers. Thanks to Paul (Cat7), I now own my first Speedmaster. I have placed a WTB for a bracelet, but the black leather strap on it looks good and is very comfortable.

Nice - I think these look better on leather TBH, the bracelets have the dreaded polished centre links. That strap suits it very well.

I just love those old Universals with the sword hands! Usually they're a bit on the small side but looking great. I used to have a nice one but with only the hour hand sword shape, minute hand straight. I believe that was also common for Universal in this period. Congrats!

I bought this watch last year from the first owner, i was quite ill at the time and flipped it quickly as my mind was elsewhere.

My birthday present from my brilliant wife. I love titanium -it's so light, and the bezel changes blue depending on how the light catches it. It's a lovely lovely thing.

Yes, don't go crazy looking for the bracelet, as well as the PCLs I found it just wasn't as comfortable or flexible as any of my other Omega bracelets. The leather strap looks good, and it works well on a NATO too. :)

    Unanticipated arrival

    A 11630 in Viceroy colours

Waiting for a new flyback lever to get the chrono functioning (not cheap!), have fitted a new glass and sorted a sticky pusher.

My youngest son (7) has got the same watch (the smaller one, not the scuba dude), it's a cracking little watch. He's even got a couple of different natos he wears it on.

Picked a couple of pieces up last week while trawling ebay, didn't pay a fortune so pretty happy really i was looking at the sicura jump hour watches but I didn't really want to pay there prices, anyway I picked this up ,it had no strap and this is the only one I had to fit it,a bit of a struggle getting it on as the bars need to be bent and the nato was a little thick,I'll have to see what it should be on,next up memostar alarm watch in great order and fully working ,now I can't upload a pic

Looking forward to it, only 1 month old, they bought it with the tropic rubber strap then bought the new bracelet seperately, so getting a good deal I reckon.

Had a look at it at my local AD and its a lovely thin elegant diver with that excellent domed crystal !!

I wanted one of these a while back but ended up with an aquis date and a PRS-68 instead. Looking forward to seeing some wrist shots when yours arrives, and maybe first dibs if you ever decide to flip it?
