Not with the same. I fancied trying a Breitling.

Posted a thread here on tz about vintage Heuer. Found out that the prices of quartzes (let alone automatics) have long since sailed. Still, the oversize Heuer 1000 caught my eye and decided I don't need automatic and don't fancy paying thousands for a simple quartz.

So, I got the next best thing, a Zodiac Red Point Quartz:

It ticks all the boxes that makes the Heuer 1000 attractive without the price tag:
    • 42mm MRP SA case
    • Jubilee bracelet

Recently picked one of these up after noticing it has disappeared from the Longines website, presumably discontinued. It's the Presence Heritage 38.5mm. My wrist is 6.5 inches.

I've set it aside until my wedding in November, but I'll be taking more photos when I start wearing it after that, should anyone be interested.

It's worth remarking that the luster of the gold and the blued hands is wonderful in person.

    Yup!

ETA 2895-2 based movement (small seconds variant of 2892-A2) with some decent perlage and blued screws, Alligator strap, solid 18k rose gold case, sapphire crystal front and back. Got a good discount from AD, too, so a decent bit under Ł2k.

Can't you inform them that you'll hold on to some of the money for 12 months ?

Yes, i'm joking but it's a dirty shithouse trick they're doing.

Really like this, what’s the reference please?

Initial thought is what a great watch for the money. I think Seiko have really done an excellent job. May well look at getting the "golden" too on the back of this one.
Wears very well, light (compared to my 8500 PO I had on). Great strap. Blue colour is different from the usual black, with nice wave black dial. I much prefer this style of hands to the new ones.
    Sorry for crappy photo.

    Cheers, I thought so too.

He says it's been serviced (which can be a bit more expensive on these) and had a replacement bezel insert (correct serif sevens I noted) It has the bracelet and lume on hands / indices looks to be a good match.

No B&P, though I'm not too fussed about those it may well be my new daily beater.

He had mis-titled it as a 3250.50.. Maybe why it slipped under the radar of most.

These are only going to go up in value as well I think..

Just got this Kickstarter watch... bought mine off Amazon to replace my Bremont which is being exchanged.. needed something different for my holiday!!
It has a nicely decorated ETA movement and comes in a ludicrous box with spare silicone strap.. initial thoughts are wow.. it is different

Congrats, the Speedmaster is a great watch, just as well really, imagine the grief that would be incoming if in a few years you tried to flip it. I usually get socks.

Bought from SC from Nuisance Value (thanks). However for once, this isn't for me. My son wanted a Speedmaster Moon watch, until I pointed out that The Royal Bank of Dad was currently not lending that sort of cash!, so he settled on this. And very nice it it too.

It's a great wee starter Speedy, if there is such a thing, I bought it for the same reason. I've switched my attention to a FOIS, when funds of NV allow!

The lume is admittedly a bit poor and I was surprised to see some on one occasion. Perhaps a visit the the surface of the sun might enliven it a little

It's the one on the far right in the pic below.. I think..

    Glad he likes it.

Currently trying this out a friend bought it and isn’t keen. Question is should it be one added to my collection?

A new friend from Russia thanks to TZ. Quite impressed really for the price although the crown operation is a little disconcerting at first until you get used to it.

Took delivery of this Smiths Everest today after posting a WTB. I love it. A great looking watch that's very versatile. Also 40mm is my ideal size.

Speedbird III (PRS-22) from the few that Eddie had left over. Really digging this watch: dial is class and the size is just perfect. Bracelet off and now sitting on an Erika’s MN:

    New to me Omega 3520.50

As posted previously, my recently purchased Omega 3520.50 triple date arrived yesterday but I only managed to pick it up today. A little nervous being an eBay buy, I've had the back off and can confirm all is genuine and in order..

First impressions since wearing it all afternoon.. I love it! I thought the size would be an issue after wearing 42mm for so long but it actually sits really well and feels a little more old school, a touch more subtle. It is supremely comfortable, more so than any other watch I own so perhaps the 39/40mm is the way I should be going..

    Pros -

Dial looks mint, even through a loupe.
Bezel (not just the insert) looks brand new. Must be NOS but is totally unmarked
Lume is very strong (which made me question if it was genuine, hence removing the back) but doesn't last long
Comfort - fits my wrist nicely and is very comfy
Winds smoothly, has been recently serviced (case is marked) and is a very clean movement
All functions work perfectly. Nice snap back on the reset.
Pushers are nice and positive click.
Correct 850 end links and bracelet - this possible adds to the comfort
Hippocampus is in good shape on the back. Serial number present
That dial! Some may say busy, I say all the info I need.

    Cons -

You might be able to tell that the tip of the second counter hand is ever so slightly bent. This does annoy me slightly..
Sapphire glass is has a couple of minute scratches - you really need to look for these through a loupe though, they are not noticeable in everyday wear
Catch is a bit loose, possibly from wear bit would prefer a more substantial click
Bracelet does have a little stretch also, not too bad and l can live with that
Case has a couple of dings and scratches, nothing major and again, I can live with that as it has history

All in all I'm very pleased with it. I wasn't after a safe queen and it's by no means mint, but it is an honest example and is already a favourite..

Not really new to me but this LIP has been off my wrist for ages due to my own ham fisted attempt at trying to change a battery and breaking the contact and the second hand coming off! I'd tried Paul at electric watches but unfortunately he said he has stopped working on this type of watch now, if that's permanent or not I'm not sure. Tried a couple of others but no joy.

Anyway webwatchmaker (Brendan) kindly agreed to take a look at it. So after a couple of weeks it's arrived back this morning looking brand new. I wear this a lot while at home, I love the mix of colours and it looks great on the NATO. Many thanks Brendan. Here (hopefully) are some pics.
