Thread: The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

This little vintage re-issue, sporting a genuinly vintage and rather beaten-up NATO for full authentic looks:

Bloody 19mm lugs so need to live with a squeezed-in 20mm strap or get sourcing a 19.....

It’s nicely domed, keeping the vintage vibe - in fact, a slight watch but with the dome and on a NATO, we’re bordering on double biscuit thick (standard Ginger Nut type)

Been yearning after a new watch for a while now. As funds do not allow the purchase of what I actually want (yet - I'm expecting a bit of a windfall in a week or two) I've blown part of the current watch fund on this:

    https://drop.com/buy/eterna-kontiki-automatic-watch

Should arrive sometime in November and Eterna's Kon-Tiki / Tangaroa watches hold a sort of special meaning for me as my Grandfather was an avid sailor and boat builder who was inspired greatly by Heyerdahl.
I was never really close to him through distance and some spat he and my father had but when my own life circumstances mirrored his own in some way I grew a greater understanding of him and made more of an effort when we did meet. I felt that this would be a suitable reminder of him and his achievements as the only reminders of him I now have are some faded photos and an oil painting of his cameraman Raka in high seas.

Minase Divido. This has won at the Game of Watches. Review coming.

Notice anything unusual about the bracelet?

That is lovely and a great bit of forum team work. The seller listed about 4 or 5 seriously rare pieces at great prices, I wonder who grabbed that PRS-14.

Well done you and good work by Bond 👏👏

    Thanks

Fantastic. The size is superb. I thought I’d find it too small (I have a Tudor GMT and Harrods) but it immediately felt right. I was honestly a bit concerned collecting it today as hadn’t seen one on a bracelet and was just worried I feel it was too small.

I can see me getting a lot of wear out of it. It is very similar to a Rolex Sub in feel and size

Yes like the older 5 digit variants but with modern quality to the finishing. The case dimensions are very well balanced in my opinion.

I can definitely see myself getting another.

Sorry mate didn’t twig who the reply was from initially! Have you still got the GMT? That’s my favourite at present but can see this running it close.

I used to love the ceramic model subs/GMT’s but having these Tudors I have a real love of the non ceramic ones now.

Yes still have it, it hasn’t seen any wear to be honest. I’ve kept it stickered up for it’s next owner, as quickly decided it was a little too much for my scrawny wrists.

The ceramic bezels look very clinical to me, where as the older aluminium inserts look just right.

Lucky to get the call on this on Saturday and collected today.

Not normally a gold watch person but this is pretty cool.

    This landed today...

The bracelet is just amazing. Quick release, every link can come out, micro adjust on the clasp is genius. I’m a fan.

And the dial is stunning as you would expect.

    Looks great.

Was chatting to a friend only the other day how the ‘new’ Overseas was the best resolved out of all the luxury sports watches, exactly for those reasons... when you buy it, do you get all three straps?

Yes you get all 3 strap included.

The thing is with the Overseas you can actually buy them and without a premium. And if you shop around you can get a good deal. Mine was new in March 2019 and I got it at a great price and its like new.

Just have to say that’s a fantastic unit of measurement. Would like to see the ginger nut adopted as the standard unit of measurement for watches in future.

I like the idea of 3 straps included. I had a Cartier roadster chrono many years ago, it came with the bracelet, a brown leather strap and a black rubber-ish strap. 3 looks in one. I never trusted the quick change mechanism after I almost lost the watch when skiing after it released at one lug. Lucky I noticed.

Yes, from literally the worlds worst advert. Lots of messages and requests for extra photos later I finally plucked up the courage. Seems good so far, awaiting the invoice via email now. At least it arrived quickly. Unfortunately the worlds most garish strap was not included

Haha. I was tempted myself but that ad put me off. Congratulations, it’s a beauty and a fantastic price if it’s a good one.

I don't blame you! Even the answers to my messages were very yes/no and I'd told myself I wouldn't get involved in the auction... But when it got relisted I sent a fairly cheeky offer. No alcohol involved, honest!

It's actually in pretty good condition, few light swirlies here and there but no show stoppers. The big old dome on the sapphire crystal is a work of art, and I'm looking forward to seeing the dial in the sun.

My wife got me this today, we saw a black faced one a few weeks ago when we went to look at the silver dialled Seamster. So far thoroughly impressed, works very well together.

Arriving just in time for an (early) halloween party this seemed apt -

    WR: 666ft

Underwhelming bracelet was set aside for a "seatbelt" NATO from George's Straps pretty sharpish. Came from Italy as I believe this colour isn't coming to the UK. Chuffed!

Ta, chuffed to bits with it. The other colourways are all great, but this is the one I wanted since I first stumbled across it. This example finally came up at a really good price. Looks so much better in the flesh than in my pic! Wears surprisingly small for a 44mm diver too.

I like everything about this watch, except maybe the hands don’t contrast enough against the dial. The size and shape of the case are perfection however.

Stumbled upon this Genuine Tag brown leather Alligator strap and deployment on eBay last week. Popped a cheeky offer of £70 in the seller accepted immediately!

I'd sort of fell out of love with my Twin Time, mainly due to rocking a non genuine leather strap and clasp but this setup has re-stoked my interest.

Just need to get a new sapphire glass fitted and I'll be set for another 10 years of faithful ownership.
