I think they would polish the PCLs back in, wouldn’t refuse to service. I think you’re allowed to send your watch in head only.
I bought mine on the jubilee and bought a new oyster from Rolex afterwards. Apparently if you have it on jubilee you can buy an oyster but if you have it on oyster you can’t buy the jubilee.
It looks good brushed, but I seem to be in a minority who actually likes CPLs. My view is that on the divers like the Sub and SD etc they should be fully brushed, but on other watches like the GMT, Daytona and Milgauss etc the CPLs look fantastic.
Have to say the GMT on an Oyster looks far better than on a Jubilee.
Is this policy the same for 1st iteration models (which only came on jubilee), do you know? That's what I have and I had essentially discounted being able to add an oyster. The c£1.7k cost still puts me off, and I wouldn't be interested if you have to pay that for an exchange. Ta v m!
Thanks
I took it to the Rolex AD yesterday. He is going to contact Rolex to see if he can help with the history
His comment was, "With that dial, if you wore it in a room full of people with nice watches , in all probability only one , at the most, would realise what you really have there".
Only the HEV gives it away.
I'll post further on the watch as , when (and if) I manage to get further info from Rolex / the last owner's family
Cheers
JP
Correct case back . Marked 5513 and the serial number thereon corresponds with the case BUT although the coronet and "Rolex" engravings are still showing the "other branding" has been polished . You can tell where it's been.
So not a perfect example but it is what it is
ETA - I can post pics of above , but , as suggested, may start another thread rather than clutter this one.
Per above , I will wait until I have more info

Picked up this Marnaut Safe Harbour today
Very happy
Thanks for the kind words! The honeymoon phase is definitely in full swing!
Initial thoughts are really positive. The watch wears very well, being only 38mm x 12.7mm, and the high beat chronograph is really interesting, and different to my other chronograph watches. The dial colour is also fantastic, and gives off a different hue in different lighting conditions.
Sizing the bracelet was a right pain, due to the links being held with screws that have a screw thread at each end, and quite strong lock-tight. I ended up warming the links in hot water, and was then able to unscrew the bar, but it was not straight forward. Also, this is my first watch with PCL's and Im amazed that I've already picked up some marks, just from desk diving at work yesterday!
As this is also the first watch I've owned with a display case-back, I've been admiring the movement. The blued screws and blue column wheel add some real interest.
Definitely going to try it on a strap soon. The previous owner had bought a grey strap with salmon stitching, and a Zenith pin-buckle, which I found at the bottom of the box. Bonus!
From Watchlovr of this parish. Am most pleased.
With a waning interest in trying and swapping various watches and trying to find the elusive "one and done" watch I picked this up at weekend, only the 2nd Rolex I've bought new from an AD. Curiously I did own the 39mm version about 5 years ago and didn't gel with it. This 40mm version wears a bit smaller than I recall with a better flow from watch head to bracelet, I much prefer the larger crown and the combination of gloss dial and under-crystal AR coating really makes it easier to read at a glance.
Honeymoon phase maybe? Who knows, but I expect to be listing my long-owned 5513 in the near future as this was intended to replace it as my main watch...

Yet another cheap work watch.
Escapement Time, Sapphire Crystal with a Myota 6s movement inside and the chronograph movement is quite nicely designed, it's a pity it's going to be scared to bit's within a week or 2.
40mm is a bit small for me but as it's mostly all dial it's not to bad.

After admiring from afar ever since release, I saw the U50 DS and couldn't resist the stealthy monochromatic appeal. The colour of the steel makes it look like it came from space!

Picked up yesterday. I’ve previously had black and white dials and this is by far my favourite.

I love that Sinn as well. What a beaut.
Lowering the tone somewhat, this has just arrived.
Shown on eBay as non-branded. For £3.99 including delivery I was curious enough to buy one. However as you can see, it's not unbranded. It's not a real one of course. Not bad for £3.99 though. The display is a bit inferior unless you catch it at the right angle. I suspect it's not particularly accurate.
This arrived today, I'll give it a go over the weekend and see if I can get on with the silver face.

Had this a few days now. Not everyone’s cuppa but I like it.

I'm very pleased with it. The general quality (crown feel, bezel action, bracelet adjustment mechanism etc) is a step up from other CW's I've owned, and I think that's in keeping with their overall evolution over the years and the consequent increases in price level. After all, this is not an inexpensive watch but I think it easily competes with watches in similar price brackets.
This particular watch is a good size (for me) at 40mm with 48mm lug-to-lug and less than 11mm tall. It wears true to these dimensions and of course it's very light.
The blue is a bit brighter than I expected but it offsets the lume very well and it appears 'backlit' as it reflects the available light. The lume is excellent, as expected.
I've swapped my Sinn 104 StSa W for a Christopher Ward C65 Aquitaine Orca.
My 1st time handling one and I was very impressed with the quality and finish of the CW.
The bracelet in particular, it's quick change system and quality of the clasp and it's extension mechanism are IMHO excellent.
The timekeeping is pretty decent too.
The lad I swapped with was wearing a watch on a Zuludiver Octopod, quite nifty and maybe a future pickup for myself.
