    Collection insurance

Hi all, probably been asked a million times but I need recommendations for my collection, any really good value policies out there?

Adding mine to my Aviva home policy, as specified items has been relatively cheap and only started to become more complex with individual pieces exceeded £10k.

Even then with a safe installed, options still exist just things need referring to an underwriter.

All the above said, I’ve never had to claim for an event occurring to a watch so I can’t provide the total picture.

I recently posted a thread on that, take a look. I went for M&S insurance based on majority of the recommendations. This doesn't mean that is the right one for you but check it out.

Just had my M&S renewal. Gone from £750 to £1100! Watching this with interest.

Can anyone recommend stand alone insurance?

M&S seem to only insure valuables to £50k. John Lewis told me they only insure valuables to 25% of general contents value.

I’m with NFU mutual. The cover is great, but the premiums are getting too high.

The above is the only stand alone I’m aware of

John Lewis has a “specialist insurance” product. Ask about that, it can go double the m&s limit

The Direct Line Premier is ‘standalone’ very knowledgeable and no insane criteria the premium was palatable

I should have said more than double the m&s limit. I do not know if they actually have a limit, however unless new, everything will need to be valued.

Thanks, but the minimum individual item value for this policy is £1,000, the maximum value for each is £20,000. The maximum combined value is £30,000.

One of the reasons I had to ditch them this year.

I ended up with Halifax for the same level of cover and same price as last year, give or take £150

Specified items over £3k covered home and away. Anything under £3k covered under contents and personal possessions away from home up to £15,000 (£3k each item).

Absolutely no experience of it but I’m pretty sure Hodinkee do their own standalone watch insurance.

TH March were very competitive for me. Fitting a safe made a huge difference.
