After a huge wait in both French and UK customs this finally arrived today.

It is heritage themed but I have queried with the manufacturer ZRC if the supposed dial 'blemishes' are intentional as part of the vintage theme.

    I like that
I see what you mean about the blemishes but it’s one of the most convincing faux vintage dials I have seen.

Here is what they said. Fair enough, it does look cool TBH.

    Dear Ryan,

First happy new year 2022 and congratulations for your purchase.
Regarding your watch you have purchased the 1964 Spirit and this line is really specific since all dials are “hand patinated” to look like “tropical dials” after 50 years of use. This means that they are all different from each other with various patinas and all exclusive.
This is really made on purpose and in fact quite hard to obtain to look like real “old time piece”.

It is no defect at all and 100% of the 1694 Spirit watches are bearing the same dials specifications. Sometimes darker or lighter, sometimes with spots like water stains or smudges.

This is what makes this line so specific, the hand patina applied on each & every dials which make them unique,

    Hope this help,

    Best

39mm Explorer. Scarily I might be liking it more than my other Rolex sports already, honeymoon perhaps.

Just received today my hand wound Red Star 38 mm Pilot Chrono with column Engel caliber ST1901 limited edition with green panda dial running very strong with +2 sec/day and 349 grade amplitude and 0.0 ms beat error. Just switched the bracelet. I like it

Freshly arrived from the Fraser Hart sale, my first taste of German minimalism. Certainly different to my normal divers watch fair, but with 200m water resistance it should be able to handle all that they do!

Picked this up yesterday, very pleased! Even managed to somehow end up with the number out of the 150 that matches my age.

Nice. Early days for me, and not sure what took me so long now. It doesn’t try, just a cool watch.

Not exactly WIS-fodder, but in the dying days of 2021 I succumbed to cravings for another Casio MRW beater, this time a US-market MRW-210H, for a mighty Ł17.

These are bigger than the more widely-distributed MRW-200s - no bad thing for a blind old git. They have all the functionality I like: waterproof, tough lightweight resin case, quartz - so actually telling the right time when I strap it on, rotating bezel for timing (usually cooking...), clear minimalist dial, and day-date for the man who literally loses track of what day it is...

I have to say, on bitterly cold mornings, it's also nice strapping-on something that doesn't feel like half a pound of ice against your wrist! (A minor side-effect of sleeping in an unheated bedroom.)

Pic for comparison (MRW-200H left, MRW-210H right)

Avowedly a case of function over form, but the World (and to some extent, my watch cabinet) is full of pretty things I never wear for fear of damage...

Just got this Fanos Osimiri via Kickstarter. Quite pleased with it.Fanos means a lantern in Greek or a guiding light. Obviously takes its design clues from the Pelagos with the same case proportions- Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement, case made of ‘hardened Titanium,
120 click bezel with no play, lumed crown and
Plenty of lume on hour markers and hands

That is really nice - Pelagos-inspired (which is a good thing), but not just a carbon-copy.

Wow! Glad you found a nice one, looks great.

  27. #15377
Thanks, I need to sort some bracelet links to make it bigger and there are a couple of fully brushed links amongst the polished on the bracelet, I’m not up on Sinn so not sure what that’s about or what my options are.

Time to get some straps out in the meantime and sort a black bezel.

    Miss my EZM2 sooooooo much!

Try Neil at Chronomaster for the links. He will be able to sort and he is super helpful mate.

    Mechanical Luxury Watches ChronoMaster

He used to offer a TZ-UK discount not sure if he still does.

Here's the thing Jon. My wife has said several times that even if I were to get one of my dream watches, I'd still be looking elsewhere and never 100% satisfied.

So this Helson has put me in a very strange position as it's pretty much everything I desire. The design (as it's based on the classic SM300 Big Triangle) is pretty much perfect. The watch that got me into this hobby was my SM 2264.50.

The build is stunning and the movement reliable and easily serviceable. My flipping history is what it is so I don't expect anyone to have any confidence that I'll keep this but we can only see.

And this arrived at the same time. Ordered it on the 5th Jan from Ali Express so very quick delivery.

So far... so good. Hope to post a mini-review when I get a moment.

You're not helping though, I'm in that phase of watching all the youtube vids and researching all the reviews on the 214270. I think my tastes are changing/evolving and the BLNR or 16600 might be on the chopping block to accommodate it.

Cheers. Mark 2 dial Explorer 214270 is the better watch, my watch OCD means I couldn’t consider the Mark 1 because as mentioned the trex handset.
