Totally agree,I love getting cheaper pieces, but treat them exactly the same ,I sometimes wonder why we pay so much for some ,it’s an horrible disease

Well, my resolve not to buy a new watch went for a burton, in no time at all. I feel the need for some Seiko goodness and have an Arnie re-release incoming.

The price on these is thankfully way down on RRP and there are discount codes available.

    Happy new year!

    Love the yellow dial!

Love that, I've got one in red and have fancied a yellow to go with it. The only watch I own that ever gets any comments but it's always 'theres no glass on that watch' the AR coating does an amazing job.

Agree the AR is great. It’s a very neat little watch all told.

saw this available with a 20% off code and went for it. really pleased with it for £720. the sweep isn't as smooth as my speedy reduced but didn't really expect it to be. nice and easy to set the time/date. rotation of bezel feels a bit cheap but not end of the world. overall finish is very nice though and the dial looks great in the brown/chocolate

Very nice I keep looking at this as a cheaper alternative to the bb58. Just worried I'd get it and still want the bb58.
£720 is a good price from what I've seen.

funny you should say that - i was planning on buying a bb58 blue but tried one on in the AD and just felt slightly underwhelmed by it... nice watch of course, but didnt really do it for me. the sides of it are just so straight; feels like a hockey puck. to me, the seiko felt a bit more special for the price

Being in tier 4 no chance for me to go and try anything on either which is a pain.

Another long winded process going back and forth between manufactures. Was going in to pick up a new Panerai today but this came out of nowhere.

For years now the 14060 was a watch I admired from a distance, but for one reason or
another, I always ended up going for something else in it’s place. Whether it was a 16610, 114060, 16600 or most recently the 126610.

Despite owning these and other watches at various times, whenever I saw a 2 Line variant of the 14060 on someone else’s wrist, the itch just grew stronger and stronger.

The newer submariners are excellent, their build quality light years ahead of the older 5 digit references, they look gorgeous in their own right. But once on the wrist there was always something not quite right for my wrist and taste. Too loud maybe? Too big maybe? Too shiney? Maybe all of the above.

Now finally I have a 14060M. To all those who I believed just sang the praises of this reference due to some rose tinted memories of a bygone era, when submariners were actually tool watches not jewellery and could actually be bought and enjoyed as a ‘watch’ - you were right!

This watch is just beautiful, absolutely beautiful. It fits perfectly, oozes class and it just ‘feels right’.

I feel very fortunate to have found an unpolished example that seems to have spent most of its life in a safe. So here it is:

I don’t think anything else will be coming near my wrist for a while.

Fits your wrist well, looks good. I'm all in on ceramics at the minute but like you can feel the itch of a 14060M (4 line) or 16600.

I think you already have the perfect watch for your wrist size Wileeeeeey - The SD43.

It has the DNA of the older case shapes (in a much larger size of course).

Now if Rolex would make a modern sub with exactly the same proportions as the 14060, I’d call it a day on that!

I agree, Sub 41, SD43 a D-Blue all fit me well but it bugs me knowing that the quintessential Rolex will always be a 5 digit.

I think the closest you will ever get to a modern sub with the same proportions is a 116600 SDc. I should hopefully have one in the next week or so. I know it will be too small but I've had the itch for just over 5 years now and it needs scratching one way or the other.

Now there’s another one that’s on the hit-list the 116600.

Let us know when it arrives!

    Red face

My new FOIS lovely size watch reminds of my reduced speedy. Wear very similar IMHO. A photo with sibling And than one on her own.

    The FOIS looks great!

People feel the size of the watch differently. Those who think that even the standard moon watch is a bit too small think the FOIS is the same size and can't feel a difference. For me the standard moon watch is a bit too large, but the FOIS wears perfectly - there is definitely a difference, the missing crown guard and slimmer lugs make it feel quite a bit "lighter" for us with slimmer wrists.

Great watch, love a bit of orange and the orange bezel PO is probably the best ever use of orange on a watch.

Lost count of the number of aquaracers I've had. Fancied a quartz as a daily grab and go, and was missing a white dial.

Trying out something that is not a Vacheron.

Strap was a pain to get on, but I needed the curved strap and deployant.

Nice. I have the green-dialled version - great watch that gets a lot of wear, and every bit as scratch resistant as Sinn and Damasko - not a mark on it.
