I had been on the lookout for a GMT with a Pepsi insert and preferably without a cyclops, which ruled most brands out. I then stumbled upon this Steinhart on e-bay. The watch is a year old and originally had a cyclops, but the original owner sent the Watch back to Steinhart in Germany and had them change the sapphire crystal to a non cyclops one. He then decided to sell and was looking for a like minded soul and found me. It is absolutely what I was looking for.

Yeah but the Steinhart has superior functionality to the GMT Master 😆

I can't afford a Milsub but I did find this on eBay for £20. Apparently people pay £100+ for some of these watches. It's ok for a bit of fun - steel case, 100m waterproof and apparently has a 'Japanese Quartz movement' (whatever that means). Has zero loom but that's to be e or ted because of the authentic tritium patina. I await the IMG_2885.JPG

    Vintage Heuer

    Hi there,
Pretty new to the forum, I just wanted to ask your expert opinions if that is ok please?

I've just purchased two vintage Heuer's - one I was planning to give to my dad for his 60th, the other I was going to keep as a potential investment piece - they were £800 each

    http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53...=1732901166001

    http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53...app-cvip-panel

I'm wondering if these are reasonable purchases as I'm struggling with buyers remorse!

If anyone knows or could point me in the direction of someone who does I would really appreciate it

    Thanks!

Have you taken into account that they may well need servicing? If that’s the case a couple of apparently reasonably priced watches could then become rather expensive.

I shouldn’t worry, vintage Heuers seem to be on the up. Even with a service you’re still only looking around £1200 each so unlikely to lose on them if you ever sell them.

If they’re keepers (which they should be) then it’s all irrelevant anyway as you’ve two nice watches for not huge money.

Arrived this morning, a rare white dial Speedmaster Auto. The caseback number suggests it was built around 1991 or 1992.

New to me Marathon CSAR chrono. I love tool watches but never dreamed about this particular model. Then I happened to bump into one on the bay. It's a well built beast and I seem to appreciate the depth of the dial (3mm sapphire with 7750 layout underneath and all those).

A 1978 Mark 3 'lollipop' Maxi Dial 5512. I have wanted one of these for a few years now and the right opportunity came along. You don't see too many of these in the UK. It even has the correct caseback, sometimes 5512s have a 5513 caseback and this seems perfectly acceptable to collectors, but a nice touch to have the correct one.

The statistics on these watches are interesting, some suggest one 5512 for every four 5513s whilst others suggest 1-5 and even 1-6. I also saw in one article that our very own jedley was credited as coming up with the 'lollypop' name for the Mark 3 Maxi Dial. Not sure if that is true, but it would be great if it was.

The 5512 was discontinued in 1978, so this is one of the very last and it will celebrate its 40th birthday in a few weeks time.

Yeah, I’m surprised how nice it is after all the negative comments I’ve read. My feeling is it will develop into a fantastic strap with a bit of wearing in and patina. Lovely soft leather, I wonder if they upgraded it on later batches following the initial poor feedback.

You might as well get the third and have a complete trilogy set

Just received this and initial impressions are it’s perfect! It’s a Watcho creation. In great condition and the hands and dial match perfectly. I’ve always wanted a non-date Watcho version. I don’t trust myself with a proper vintage model.

It’s on a modern 1171/633 bracelet and end link combo. Gives it the perfect pseudo retro feel.

Very nice - what's the case reference (the shorter of the two numbers on the back)?
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
