I bought this bit of Miami vice gold (plate) today and I'm well chuffed. It was languishing in a cabinet in an antiquities shop.
It's a seastar prs516 GL. Full links and in remarkably good nick for its age, no plate loss and sharp brushing still. I've been after a 516 for ages in a "man" size.

It's from the same line as my mothers which she ran over with a car and that animalone kindly put back together for me. Hers is far too small as it's a ladies one so now I have the pair.

Since I recently got into watches and learning more about their history I became really interested in electronic watches. I finally have one:

A Citizen Cosmotron (surely in the running for the coolest watch name) with 7803A movement. It needs a bit of TLC and a new movement ring but works reasonably well.

Hadn't appreciated the dial until it arrived. A lovely grey sunburst with a few small marks only really visible with magnification. I don't want to wear it until the movement ring is sorted so I'll just have to admire it until then.

    Next stop a hummer.

Went shopping in Leeds with Mrs NCC yesterday. Fell in love. Not with her obviously (although I still do nearly quarter of a century later!) but with this. Anyway, off I trotted back to the big city this morning and itís on my wrist now

I had zero intention of purchasing yet another watch but seriously, itís exactly what Iíve been looking for. I could live without the cyclops in a 100% ideal world but at least it actually works. Really impressed with the build quality. Itís a chunky old thing at 42mm but it fits my tiny wrists really well. Nice to have a bit of heft there, making it feel to be worth the money, if nothing else!

Yes, itís a cheap throwaway Quartz movement encased in Oak on a Suede strap.
Could of gone out for Pizza, bought this instead.

Oris Aquis just arrived, it's a big watch but wears well due to the lug design.

Wearing in now on my 6.7" wrist

I went the boring way and traded my GS High-beat GMT for this one. I guess in a horological sense I went down the scale, but I was just never fully comfortable with the GS. It was too tall for the bracelet, no micro adjustment and I also missed the lume. Maybe I'm a brand snob as well...

  18. #7768
Do you have micro adjustment on that Explorer?

Well, I don't think is considered micro, but there is adjustment holes on the bracelet clasp and that seems to be enough for me to get a very good fit.

Iíd been looking to fill the zenith shaped hole in my collection when Paul (Cat7) popped up a trade offer of the zenith cp2. I was really hesitant about the size- because notionally it is 43mm- but decided to meet with Paul and give it a shot. And wow. I donít think Iíve worn a watch so ergonomically well designed, the lugs curve around the wrist and the weight helps it sit perfectly on the wrist. Wears a bit like a speedy pro but I prefer the design and appreciate (and use) the pilot bezel. Totally love it

I only put a speculative bid in and was irritated when no one outbid me. It took an inordinately long time to arrive from The Netherlands which irritated me some more. Finally received it today (after a day of worrying that it might have disappeared due to it being delivered to my work address at the weekend). All my irritations have faded away.

An Iaxa Electronic 350. If the forum search function is to be believed this is only the fourth time that Iaxa have been mentioned here. It has an ESA 9150 Dynotron (another cool name) electronic movement. The lovely champagne sunburst dial is in better condition than I expected. And I really like the shape of the case. We'll see how well it keeps time over the next few days.

Apart from the strap the only thing I am unsure of is whether or not the crystal is original. The profile doesn't look right but I could be wrong.

Note to self: stop buying watches, I really need to get a few serviced.

One of my all-time favourites, as you say, brilliant lugs and like a slightly butch Speedy. In truth, itís superior to the Speedy in several ways, but minus the history. Lovely dial and a seriously under-rated chronometer. Just feels great on the wrist, and with the El Primero movement. Iíve had three. Mustnít buy another, but anyone wanting to complement a Speedy should take a close look. One of Zeniths best recent creations, to me anyway.

Tried one of these on at Goldsmiths a few weeks back.

It does wear really well due to the relatively short lug to lug dimension.

Looks really nice on you Ric.

This is my favourite watch of a small but growing collection, so well designed and executed. I do wonder what a version in a precious metal might be like, say a rose gold.

Thought you might have been! I could see in the pics it was running and as they were a house clearance type place I gambled they hadn't even checked the date change.

There were a couple of nasty gouges out of the crystal but they polished out nicely and the rest of it is almost perfect. For some reason these are often in poor condition.

This was the only one I had seen with the arrowhead markers but low and behold there is another on ebay now, 50s I think with dauphin hands. The dial is nicer in real life it is not just painted but subtly textured so the inner or outer rings swap between grey or white depending on the way the light hits it.
