It's nice to have a watch with a power reserve again!

A bit of an impulse buy but I really like the dial texture, just need to get a better strap on it.

I feel a bit annoyed as I have been looking for a 389 in the UK for a while now. This has come courtesy of a jeweller in the UK as well, not a private seller. Im torn as the condition isnt as described, but also 389s dont crop up too often.
Would you have bought it, and paid what you did, if it had been advertised in the condition its in?

Will another one likely pop up at some point in better condition and will you regret not holding off for it? Or is this something that you can quickly sell on for what you paid for it?

Personally I think I'd find it hard to be happy keeping it, based on all that.

The first mechanical Silverwave to add to the collection.

Beneath the grotty crystal there is a lovely teal dial.

    I hope.

I’m just in discussions now with the jeweller. He’s going to source as many of the missing bits that I have highlighted as he can get hold of. He won’t be able to get hold of the stickers or appropriately marked outer box. But at least they have come to the table. The price was reasonable, but based on a description that wasn’t particularly accurate. I’m going to give them until the middle of next week and see what they come up with. He’s also going to supply a Panerai strap. The watch is ok as they get bumps and knocks, I do like a full boxed set though.

Here it is swapped onto a blue Panerai rubber I had on stock.......

Great watch and pick up. If they ever do one in a larger size I'll get one immediately. I've wanted one for ages but my wrists are too big.

Cheers mate. Would the 856 at 40mm also be too small for you?

I considered it in the "b" version and the 836 but I don't like the date at 4 or 6 and I don't like the flash of red on the 836. Close but no cigar.

That used to be my watch. Enjoy it!

This new Halios had just been delivered. I've had a seaforth before and enjoyed it but didn't get on eith the ceramic bezel and always felt that the watch looked a bit like a dinner plate on my wrist, I think because it was quite flat whereas my Omega PO is curved slightly making it less severe.

This new model is a fairwind, smaller at 39mm, 2824 movement (28,800vph) and a lovely brushed steel bezel. It has been shipped on a suede strap but the bracelet is on the way.

Dimensions for my 6.75inch wrist perfectly although I would like a date.

After some deliberation - this 126665 has landed today. Fresh from the AD who spent time making sure I had the right bracelet size (yes Rolex call this a bracelet not a “rubber band” as some folk do). I may do a little write up

Looks fantastic, well done. That watch has been growing on me for a long while but I'm a way off from doing something about it. Hopefully by the time I have the funds it will be available in 42mm but with the same proportion hour hand as I think the hour hand on the WG 42 looks a bit weird.

Just allow a little time for the Oysterflex to bed in. It can feel a bit stiff at first but soon relaxes and becomes very comfortable indeed. With the new adjustable clasp for this year you can get a perfect fit. But, as you spotted, first you need the right size ‘bracelet’. Apparently the bands should put the setting of the clasp in the ‘mid’ setting so you can go either way. Because you can’t add or subtract links!
Overall, I think it is the most comfortable ‘bracelet’ they offer. Seems tough too.
Incidentally, the 18k gold clasp costs somewhere around 6K. Incredible price. The bands a few hundred.Thats more like it.

Took delivery today of a watch that I have been after for a few years now. Certainly one of Eddie's finest and a watch that rarely gets offered for sale these days. It is the first edition Smiths PRS-29B which is 39mm and has the higher domed sapphire crystal. It was limited to 200 watches back in 2010.

Delighted to finally get hold of one, especially in such good condition.

Congratulations One of only 200 and they dont come up often. I made the mistake of selling the one I bought off Eddie but managed to buy another in great condition a few years later. I would swap your springbars for some shoulderless examples just to be safe.

The strap came with the watch, but is brand new and yes it does suit it. Although the original box and long out of date warranty card were sadly missing, the guy did have the two straps which I think came with the watch when new.
