I first saw this and wasn't very interested but looking on a bigger screen I saw the dial texture and thought "why not?"

As an added bonus the lume still works. For a while.

No, not my new arrival I’m afraid, but I spent the afternoon helping a friend with checking out and picking up his new YG Oysterquartz day-date, and had a play with it while resizing the bracelet. Then straight back to the stainless steel version for me, it was fun while it lasted!

Out of the Blue got the call yesterday. Couldn’t be happier. Two hours later and in the pub.

I've been chasing one of these for years. Linde Werdelin Spidolite, White dial, no date, titanium. Limited to 44 pieces.

    Goes well with any strap!

I love a white dial and that is spectacularly good! In fact love the overall look of this LW.

Congratulations, always satisfying tracking down something so rare.

My taste in watches is generally pretty conservative (except for some extrovert 70's pieces) however I really like a lot of the LW which appear on the forum every now and then. This one is lovely but so is the one you have on SC. I can but dream.

Picked this up from SC late last week and popped it on a Di-Modell Rallye

This one arrived in the middle of a Teams meeting.

It is a citizen Diamond Flake from 1964 and is powered by what was, for a brief moment at 2.7mm, the thinnest movement in the world. As ever Citizen were in direct competition with Seiko. This time it was with the Seiko Goldfeather range who's movement was a mahooosive 2.95mm thick.

The Citizen 0700 calibre came in 25 and 31 jeweled versions and there was also a date version.

A number of aspects have drawn me to looking for a Diamond Flake: the name, the thin-ness, 31 jewels, the scripted text on the dial, the symbol. As is always the case good ones fetch good money so, ever an eye for a bargain, I spotted this one. Close scrutiny of the photos persuaded me that, beneath the shagged crystal, there was a dial and hands that were in pretty good condition so put in a bid. Or two. And here it is:

It was with relief that, when I scrutinised the real thing the dial and hands were indeed in very good nick with only the odd blemish.

Here it is side on against a 10mm grid showing how thin it is. I'm not so sure about the crown. I'll have to do a little more research.

Here it is alongside my similarly aged, hand wound Parawater Deluxe, itself being a fairly svelte watch.

And just because I had all three of them together a group shot of my three Parawters (I feel a theme for my next sub-collection is developing).

But now the real fun and games begins. Casing guides for vintage Citizen are infamous for their lack of existence so trying to find the correct crystal maybe somewhat difficult. If any one here can help it will be gratefully received.

Edited to try and insert better photos.

    Nice pick up.

I think I like it, but it does look odd without a bezel pip.

Oh, and the tip of the seconds hand took me by surprise.

The bezel pip being replaced by 60 does take a bit of getting used to. First couple of times I rotated it, I went past the 60 as there is no obvious difference.

Definitely a watch that needs to be seen as it looks better than pics convey.

New price paid unfortunately which is frustrating given I asked them to put one aside for me as soon as they were announced. But it's just the way it is. It was one of the London boutiques and I was one of the first. I was due to pop in yesterday anyway and they told me on Monday they had one held for me.

It does look very nice. I tried the NTTD on the other evening and the Milanese bracelet seemed ok on my wrist, some complain of struggling to get a comfortable fit.

I am looking forward to seeing one in the flesh thought, it's this or an Air King 126900, both should be available around the same time but it will be only one.

I have the NTTD as well and prefer it. It fits more comfortably on the wrist and the titanium bracelet is a little more flexible than the steel. If you buy from a boutique they will swap the bracelet for shorter (as they did for me) or longer if you need it.

The result of my consolidation excercise arrived today.

I've had one of these in my "virtual watch box" (a power point deck stuffed with my favourite watch images) for a few years now - nice to see someone that has one in the flesh ! Good luck finding a replacement crystal.

My 99.4 feels like an incoming all over again after arriving back from its second trip to Dornbluth, the first to have the original dial fitted and this time, to fix a crown fault that developed a few days after the dial swap. I bought this off the forum last year and haven't worn it really as it was with Dornbluth for a good six months, but has been worth waiting for. I love the 99.3, it's my perfect sports dress watch and I am glad I sold my 99.4 for it. I think I would prefer a darker strap so have ordered a Rios strap to see how it looks.

    Thanks.

Having seen numerous YouTube and online reviews, the QC on the 317 is spot on. That makes a change. Running at +1 so nicely regulated too.

Nice, I have never seen one on a bracelet before. It’s usually the blue rubber strap. It looks really good. (I have no idea why I am surprised the U1 looks good on loads of different straps)

Apparently the regular swatch is a hodinkee limited edition only available in the time square flagship. Can’t see their name anywhere but the box.

A bit of extra work justified the spend. I wasn't sure about the arrowhead hands in pictures, but having had it on my wrist for a couple of days they have grown on me and the readability in any light and from acute angles is remarkable. This is one from 2014, one owner from new and serviced just before Christmas so good for about 10 years! The way the sunlight catches the metallic finished orange numerals makes it very attractive, and they match my high vis at work!
