The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

Chilex chronograph. Circa 1968. 37.55mm, Landeron Cal.189. Runs beautifully, all the functions work and got it at a great price from a little antiquey place which didn’t really know what it was. Jeweller’s box is from a shop in Melbourne so it obviously travelled a fair way from France. The company was originally call Chil, after founder Pierre Chil, but when he was divorced his wife got half the business so he added the “ex”.

Lovely and perfect wearing for the season. Early 70's? Looks like a Shackmans case.

Thank you, I had to look that one up! The watch is somewhere around 1968-9 so the era is right, but I don’t see anything identifying it as a Shackman case inside the case back. It’s a gold capped 36.5mm (ish) ‘jumbo’ Seamaster case, a very wearable size for vintage and as you say, extremely festive!

It’s gold capped. I feel like gold is making a comeback, or maybe it’s just the season for it! Tricky to photograph, the iPhone gets everything exactly wrong on this one. Here’s another go:

Plenty good enough. The same as the most recent mkii quartz

Few seconds near the window on a grey/foggy Glasgow day

I really wasn't expecting to see one of these until next year but the local AD came up trumps. Very pleased with it - looks and feels great.

I was hoping you would say that it was gold capped.

Addition of a nice “vintage” dark brown 18mm rally (from Geckho) to the Chilex has finished it off rather well.

Thanks. V chuffed myself. Landeron Cal.189 inside and ridiculously it is running to about 4 seconds a day, which is staggering.

I like that carbon fibre strap. I’d love to see a forged carbon G-shock. That would be awesome, probably not tough enough though.

Sorry, for the stupid and probably stating the obvious!
Is this the same piece as currently still showing on the FS forum?

Ah the new U model. Love it. I've been hovering over the buy button several times. No idea how long I can resist.

I did exactly the same with my finger hovering over the checkout button on more than a few occasions!
I’d always liked the previous version except for the MM/DD date display and 1.5 seconds backlight that meant I just couldn’t quite read the display before it went out.
This version ticks both of these boxes - I bought the GW-M5610U first to make sure since they share the same module.
It’s only a few hours into my time with the GW-5000U-1JF but I’d say it feels well worth the extra if that’s any help in getting you over the line!

Thank you. I'll probably get one when the timing and finances align. I know it's a worthwhile upgrade but as I have a drawer full of Gs one or two may have to go to help fund it.
