The Smiths Everest would be my ideal daily... if only it had a date function.

I appreciate that the original was a non-date, but I find it handy for work/daily life, able to glance down for the date!

Thanks, but after wearing it for a few days i flipped it. I chased it for a long time and when i finally found one for sale it didnt match up with my expectations in person.
Life goes on, i got this instead :D

Couldn't resist Andy Schuhren's stash of them any more and bought one for myself

Given that I mostly own dressy watches this is a departure - but sub-40mm and date-free is definitely my thing. I've put it on a faded black perlon NATO

I've probably obliterated it's collectable value by using some polywatch on it.

Just took this in a trade, actually very surprised by the quality of this one, and certainly very different to other watches I've had.

This is certainly a keeper! More than makes up for my recent disappointment trying on a Zenith.

Very good catches! I do really need to try a CWC again. Just wasn't in an appreciative mindset before.

    CATCH OF THE DAY-
Got this yesterday, beautiful condition 1973 Omega Dynamic with original box and papers that has sat in a safe for over 40 years!
Came off quite a small wrist so just need to find a couple of original links and maybe an original leather strap to go with.
    Working beautifully.

Thanks bud, I will post some decent pics when it's had a good service. The dial and hands are very close to being mint, nice watch overall.

My first incoming for a while, and one I've been after for a good few months. Not that they're rare or anything, I just hadn't found one in the right condition at the right price. I like the traditional 6, 9, 12 over the 3, 6, 9 layout as it puts the date in a better position in my view, but it's all personal preference I guess.

I spent a bit of time trying to decide between black or blue dial, but in the end chose the blue as it mostly looks black anyway (it's a very dark blue) but when it catches some light then you get a lovely sunburst effect. Subtle, but lifts it over the black somehow.

    Anyway, a pic!

Flipped my 2011 VC Ingeniuer Laureus for the 2015 version. Arguably a lower-quality watch but a far better fit on my wrist.

I really like the ingeniuer watches so a big thumbs up on that. Just curious but why do you feel the newer models lack the quality of the previous incarnation?

In comparison with the 2011 VC Ingenieur Laureus, the 2015 version is a lower priced watch (about 15% cheaper at their respective list prices). The IW323310 2011 version had the 80111 movement, whereas the IW323909 2015 version has the 30110. The 80111 is considered to be 'in-house', and the the 30110 is often derided for being 'just an ETA'. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors about the whole topic.

In handling both watches, I certainly do not feel any reduction in material quality. In fact, the 30110 movement feels smoother to set and wind. The case and bracelet finishing is very good on the new watch.

For me though, the main benefit of the newer version is simply the size of the watch. At 40mm x 10mm, it is a much better fit for me than the 42.5mm x 14mm VC Ingenieur, and the fact is, the newer case is simply too small to house any of the IWC 'in-house' movements.

Thanks Gingok, luckily it was kept in a warm dry place so no issues with mouldy dial or anything, virtually no discoloration at all, and runs like a dream but will have it serviced anyway.
