Incoming - Longines HydroConquest 29.5mm blue

So he proposed a couple of weeks ago, and as I dislike diamonds (not the substance, but the way they are found, bought, marketed and sold) and don't get on with wearing a ring on my right hand - this came in instead :)

I didn't do the elaborate case back or the clasp, but if anyone's interested I can - it even has a wee diver's extension!

Congrats Sara. My other half tried on the black version recently, but the blue is a lot nicer!

Cool, well done - makes a change from rings! Wear it in good health.

    Congrats on both accounts.

    Very good choice too.

    Thanks all :)

Yes I'm super pleased with it - the blue isn't in-yer-face, but shines beautifully when the light hits it.

Just the right size for a daily wearer for me - even a little bigger (like the ladies' Citizen Excalibur I bought last month) feels a bit too big for constant wear.

It seems to be running at about +4s/day.

Minor cons (though I don't care about them as of course this one isn't going anywhere):
    • Lume isn't up to much.
    • Bezel seems ever so slightly too anti-clockwise.
    • Fiddly crown/distance between stops.

Also, it it doing the job of an engagement present well, I fiddle and look at it and am totally reminded of my man - the effect was even stronger as I went away for a really long weekend last weekend and was uncharacteristically homesick...

Those divewatches in female size look so huggable, as mentioned above, even more balanced in size sometimes.

My wife's Victorinox diver in 30mm is just about what her wrist can manage, and does look good.

Love the blue dial as well.

    Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

Looks great, you could also have gotten away with the 39mm.

Sure, but I couldn't have worn it constantly. BIG watches are a statement and look cool for an evening, but they get in my way.

And there's a difference between "getting away with it" and having a watch that looks just good on you :)

Congratulations both on the watch and engagement.

My wife goes even further and won't do gold, leather, silk etc as well as diamonds. Saves me a fortune but makes my purchases look extravagant and it's murder at birthdays and xmas!

    Thanks :)

Well I don't have a problem with lab-grown diamonds - the substance itself is amazing, chemically/structurally beautiful plus with the special refractive index that causes its glitteriness... Just that we all know about blood diamonds, the poor conditions for the workers mining the things, and DeBeers are a rotten company who keep diamond prices artificially high... But having one grown by in a lab under intense pressure and heat? Cool! What would your wife think of that?

I'd imagine she'd still not be interested tbh. She'd rather give the money to The Dogs Trust or similar. Defiantly a keeper!

So I hadn't previously lent much credence to the idea of a movement 'settling in' but this watch seems to have gone from being about 4.5 secs fast per day, to barely 2! Sweet!

Haha! That reminds me that I actually looked through my Wedding and Honeymoon photos to try and get a good look at the Tag I was wearing at the time. We are not normal.

    Congratulations to the OP!!

Congratulations - I'm another big fan of the Hydroconquest and it looks great in the small size too!

    Thanks all!

Thought a couple of you might be interested in the end of the story :)

It's only been a week so haven't got the "proper" photos off my brother yet, will post any that show off the little omega (though I suspect it was hidden behind my bouquet most of the time).
