    The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Any one else watch this on the TV last night?

I thought that I would hate it but it was superb. OK, a totally implausible plot but the production looked stunning and the acting by the ensemble cast was outstanding.

There's a sequel in the making apparently, due out next year. With Richard Gere joining the cast, of all people!

Oh no, not with Gere! Please! Last time I went out to see a film with him in it was Primal Fear: the movie where Edward Norton played Gere off the screen! The original BEMG is a fantastic movie! It's moving, funny and the long list of great actors is spot on!

And according to my wife, who used to live and work in Delhi, the setting + look and feel are spot on. (I've never been to India - in fact I refuse to go to countries where I can not drink tapwater - that's where I draw the line ;-) )

And as for Celia Imrie, I would happily join her for early evening cocktails in any hotel.............
Same here. Wife and daughter were out, not much on TV, watched it initially out of desperation more than anything.

Absolutely superb acting, great feel good factor. Highly recommended.

Watched it when it first came on Sky, fabulous movie. Caught a bit of it last night, the GF coming over and getting in to bed with a guest as the owner had given her his room/the chap meeting up with his long lost love; really must watch again in it's entirety :)

An excellent movie and for once didn't think 'time wasted' (as so much drivel these days!)
Lovely to hear the English language well spoken, and Maggie's lines are just brilliant !
Like so much else in this place, we can if we put our mind to it

I haven't watched it, but it sounds like the type of film the British did so well. Ealing comedies anyone ? Wonderful well scripted and acted gems - films for adults.

I usually dislike this sort of film - the one with the 'golden oldies' like Bill Nighy and his awful corny humour -style films (can't remember if he's in this one but that kinda of style) - but I watched this on a 'plane a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. Not really that sort of film at all. Lots of charm and the quaint English style mixed in with the colour and chaos of India. Recommended.

    Watched it last night.

Fine cast of actors and great locations.

    No car chases or explosions.

    I thoroughly enjoyed it.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Really lovey film. Watched it at the cinema one night whilst working away, it was literally the only film that wasn't sold out. Expected to walk out half way but instead thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed it as well. Made to watch it by the wife who then fell asleep 30 minutes in.
Fantastic acting and a very poignant story.
We spent two months in India and it really summed up the place perfectly. Itching to go back with the kids.
Loved the quote about life being a privilege and to just get on and enjoy it.

I enjoyed it a lot too, however I am not clear that India is that welcoming (and I say this as an Indian having been there a bit). Thoroughly recommended and I must read the book.

I saw it at the cinema when it first came out. The Mrs and I went there to see another film (my choice) but it was sold out so we went with option B, her choice. Expected to hate it, ended up loving it so much that I watched it on TV a couple of days ago as well. It is a little clichéd however the setting, cast and acting make up for it; a gentle story well told.
