    What after Breaking Bad??

Sorry, the thread about True Detective made me realise that I've just finished season 3 (of 5?) of Breaking Bad on Netflix and panic has set in, I'm stuck after this.

Dexter (excellent), Prison break (from ok to excellent), 24 (excellent), The Sopranos (excellent) and Sons of Anarchy (meh, but usually very good) all done and dusted.
I've put off Breaking Bad until now but we've chewed through the first three seasons in a week so by next weekend I may well be stuck!

Is "The Wire" any good? I fancy having a look but the 710 isn't sold on it.

I'm slowly working through Lilyhammer but not exactly gripped. One to dip in and out of.

If it comes to it, I picked up season 1 of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and series 1 of Land of the Giants on DVD last week (both for a tenner), but again, I'm struggling to pitch them to the wife - the thought of watching something in black and white gives her cold sweats.

That's one I watched the first couple of episodes but didn't keep up with. When I tried to slide back into it I was well out of touch!
Good call, I'd forgotten all about that series. Just about to wrap up as well I gather?

I'll have a nose around Netflix, if it's on there then good stuff, and if not I might tap you for a borrow!

I've just remembered "Orange is the new Black" that we're chomping through. Wife loves it, I don't mind it, so we might be set for another month yet.

Boardwalk Empire really is fantastic. One of the best series I have ever seen. I own and have watched all 4 seasons.

    I also enjoyed "The Tudors".

In addition I have "The Wire" boxed set also, but I never got beyond the first season (and I dont think I managed to finish that).

Happy to lend any or all :-)

Currently just started season 2 of "The West Wing" - dont understand most of it, but it's still thoroughly enjoyable.

We had the same. Post breaking bad nothing stuck until Homeland. Was expecting it to be the usual US patriotic rubbish but its actually very good. Wife also really likes 'The Good Wife' which to be fair is good also.

All over The Walking Dead! Never miss an episode and sometimes watch them again on +1!

Falling Skies looked a bit like it wanted to be "Lost", but the synopsis looks promising.

The other three I've never even considered, I'll definitely have a peep though.

West Wing was something I wanted to like so badly, but it bored the tits off both of us. I reckon I could get through it given a year, but definitely not gripping.

The Wire and Boardwalk Empire have both jumped to the top of the list, so many thanks (how sad is this - lives revolving around telly time!)

(I'm also watching Video Game High School on netflix, but only when alone - it's my guilty pleasure. Rubbish, but good fun.)

Just started rewatching Twin Peaks on US Netflix - forgot how great and groundbreaking that was. Very strange but with lots of twists.

    The Killing
    The Bridge
    Game of Thrones.

The Wire is the first ever box set type thing I ever watched and, IMHO, has never ever ever been surpassed.
Except by the three above, and Breaking Bad.

    And Boardwalk Empire.

Yeah it's about the rise of Ragnar Lothbrok to legendary status. It gets more twisted and violent as it goes on, if it hasn't caught your attention after half a season it's probably not for you. Personally I can't wait for season 3, Ragnar's done terrorising England and moves on to Paris.

Boardwalk Empire is great. Last season just ended overhere in Holland. Great storytelling!

I'm sitting straight for the next season of True Detective - I hope that this season's actors equal McConnaughey's level!

    Menno

EDIT: and then there's this... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3032476/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt Better Call Saul. Vince Gilligan's latest!

Psssss.... The fifth (and final) season of Boardwalk Empire has just ended.

And, IMHO, The Wire is the best thing to have ever been on TV.

Love this forum. Viewing sorted for the next 12 months!

What's that Game of Thrones all about? I'm not really into all the medieval/period hack-n-slash stuff to be honest, but the fans of it are absolute lunatic die-hard types, there must be something to it...

I wasn't sure what all the hype was about so I bought season 1 box set and was hooked. One of the episodes in series 2 or 3 (without giving a spoiler) was quite simply the best episode of any series I have ever seen!

also as mentioned, Boardwalk Empire is not to be missed.

    It's bloody fantastic!

Some seasons not as good as others but all great (some just more so) so stick with it till the end.
Also recommend Game of Thrones (sex, blood and guts), and The Walking Dead (just blood and guts).
That should keep you going for a bit.

A different type of viewing but another vote for House of Cards

    I agree with previous recommendations.

I'd also add Rescue Me, which doesn't get the recognition it deserves IMO.

The Shield is also very good

The Shield is excellent. Surprised it took this long to get a mention. I'd watch The Wire next though, OP. It's fantastic

A very good suggestion, both the newer US version and of course the original UK one.

Boardwalk Empire ending was a little disappointing, but hey oh.

Now, The Wire, I have the boxset incoming, so looking forward to this.

Ahh yes, I missed the obvious "Game of Thrones" - well worth a watch.

Also "The Borgias" as mentioned above - very dark, and can be difficult to follow through, but worth it in the end. Just a shame the company folded production after season 3, so it doesnt really end properly.

"Dracula" is good too, but only one season of that out so far. Stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers of "The Tudors" fame.

I almost forgot, another great TV series I watched a while back, and really enjoyed it was Luther, starring Idris Elba, and a very nice Ruth Wilson, I don't know about anyone else, but her character in Luther is such a turn on :P

    Nope, no mention.
Except in the opening post where I said I'd already seen it all.

Excellent series, still. I've re-watched it from start to finish and did sort of start a third time, but it didn't hold my attention as well so it's back on the shelf for a few years.
