Just a quick update for those with Sapper links sufficient to justify wearing of the new RE NATO. This strap benefits from the same furniture as Eddie's other new NATOs and really is the bees knees. It really is quite a bit better than the one from the Corps PRI shop however isn't really in direct competition as that one is 18mm. I think I might need to get a couple of spares as thet won't be around for ever.

that is interesting, i hadnt seen it until opening this thread which is odd as i am currently serving with 101. there is a watch for BD75 which has been commisioned by wimbish station and looks decent but im not going to order one.

as for the cat emblem, it is the correct 101 regt emblem. this describes where the regimental emblem came from for 101.

Agreed - a picture of blokes who are not watch obsessed like us!

Also you'd have thought they would have synced time before the shot… we have 10.40, 10.42, 10.41. ;-)

I suppose it's a good job that they're Sappers - if they were King's Troop (RHA) things might have got a bit messy.

Bit off topic, but what the hell: King's Troop was my Grandad's regiment… he went under the gun carriage at the Royal Tournament and the King asked after his well being!

One of his claim to fames (he had a few bizarre incidents along this line in his military career it seems… all told to me second hand as I was fairly young when he passed)

I also understand that our host may have some form of loose connection with our friends in St John's Wood (I realise that they've moved but I'll always associate them with there).

Not exactly a loose connection, I was chief clerk there in 1975/76 and learned to ride in the riding school. The barracks are about 40 years old with stabling for 150 horses, it's a crying shame that they will be demolished for development.

Stuff like this are what makes what you do worthwhile, I am sure, if you take away the business element of your passion Eddie.

    Great achievement!

Indeed! I wonder whether it turns out that there is more latent demand following Eddie's edition. I had understood that 101 were commissioning some kind of dress watch and I'm assuming this isn't it - though I suppose a WIS definition of dress watch could be different to a non-WIS (I was going to use the word civvy but that's probably not appropriate ). The price is a bit different.

As a matter of interest did you ever serve at Beaver's Lane camp? I ran an NBC cadre for them prior to Op Granby - they were happy days.

I understand the dress watch was made by CW.

As an ex Royal Engineer, this thread is fascinating. Respect to Eddie and all involved, great looking watch and good to see all 75 have been bought by Sappers. Where do I get one of those RE Natos, they look fantastic.

I may be wrong but I think you can get them at Time Factors.

If it's based on an existing model I already sell then a custom dial and back can be 100 pieces but if it's a completely new design, then it's 200.

Lead time for existing can be 3 - 4 months and 6 months for new.

I bumped into someone wearing one of these whilst he was dropping off his VW camper fpr some work in the same yard I have my workshop.
I asked him about it, he was recently ex-RE, and had no idea about this place, but bought the watch through the unit.
    Small world
