And I'm sporting a rather lovely Carrera on loan
So a change of tack this week…fancied something different and went for my smallest watch (other than the one I owned as a boy). In a way its odd that the same wrist wears this that also wears the Precista Italian or the Steinhart OVM. Side by side its an almost hilarious difference!
But its a lovely, simple vintage Omega. A bit of a story behind it… bought from Ebay, came busted (not described as that!) and after a bit of a tussle I got some money back. Decided to try and give it life, so it went to Russell Talerman who informed me it was full of rust! So it was a real ebay gem. Still I decided to push on with the repair.
He did a great job of getting it back to life, but the second hand now does not sweep, it kind of does a crazy tick/stutter. This was described by the dear old forum friend Abraxas as the second hand doing a rhumba around the dial. Which I think of a lovely way of viewing it! Still, even with this quirk it keeps good time and has a decent power reserve.
It is a bit of a bugger to photograph… steel dial with steel batons and steel hands. Meaning it picks up different hues and shades depending on the light. The dial is a little pitted, that looks far, far worse in the photos than it does on the wrist. Well it is about ten times the size here!! Simple elegance.
It was reserved for wearing with black tie and the like, but my new Pie-Pan Constellation really has stepped into that roll, so I'll try and get this on the wrist more now… might even try and change it up on nylon colours at some point to see how that looks!!!
This Friday, and all Fridays in the foreseeable future:
this for me and i am really enjoying it since it's return from repair work.
No surprise here. It's going to be this one during the day
