    Educate me on Hublot movements

I am looking at BigBangs and I have seen the same watch now with either the Hub 4100 movement or the 4104 movement. I cannot find out for the life of me what the difference is . Can anyone help?

    Thanks

They almost all 7750 anyway arnt they? I have seen some hublot that are 2894-2 also.
The 7750 ones are easy to spot due to sub dial layout. We had a limited edition Morgan one in the other day that replaced one of the subdials with the Morgan logo, while leaving all the parts for that subdial in the movement.
Hublot don't impress me movement wise for the money.

But hey beat frank Muller for ripping off ETAs by just milling out the logo and calibre number, then adding a platinum rotor for no reason other than wearing out the rotor ball race quicker than normal.

I think the early ones are 7750 movements but I do not believe that is the case in later versions with the hub 4100 movements. I am just not overly certain what they are, hence trying to find out. Thanks for giving your input though.

Then I think the later ones I have seen are modified 2894-2. Got movement pics?

Had a Big Bang ceramic and whilst it was very nice on the wrist the watch seemed to me in solely movement terms well overpriced! but what the hell do you want for 11K? a tarted up 7750.

I have a 2010 Big Bang Black magic which has a 7750 which used to be called the HUB44, the newer ones have the Hublot HUB 41** movement is based on a ETA 2894-2 modular chronograph movement. The change apparently came about due to issues acquiring 7750 in the increased quantities Hublot required. The 7750 are still used in the Aerobang models but they are called HUB42**. I have no issue with the watch having a 7750, they are tried tested and very reliable. If I ever have an issue with it (which I haven`t yet) I don`t have to send it to Hublot. It can almost certainly be repaired by most competent watchmakers.

Well, that's what he did, or does.

Putting an ETA 2892 with a platinum rotor in a very expensive case.

Thanks, the language was rather convoluted so couldn't quite make out quite what he meant with that sentence.

You are not gonna get 36 complications in without it looking complicated!

Of course lots of companies have used a 2892 as a starting point for various high end watches, especially before the mania for "manufactures" kicked in. I'm sure the complete list would be quite long.

This is probaly based, far away, on a 7750, just like Il Destriero Scafusia.

But it's the three hand versions that are IMHO a joke.

This thing is a question of taste, I agree.

Its a bit like a Bristol being based on a Chrysler v8 block. Bothers some people, others not.

pffff, I would have that apart in minutes no problem, although putting it back together might be a bridge to far

That's my main issue with hublot. I love the ice bang but the movement does not impress me at that price. I mean an ETA is a great movement but not for 10k+ that's why I would try to buy a secondhand unico movement hublot. Because that moment is impressive and sometimes they go for 10-12k but I haven't found one that I really like that's a why I am back to AP Roo and ROC

A lot of newer Big Bangs come with their in house Unico movement.

Why so much angst about the movement? Its a big blingy watch with a well known name. What more do you want?

Just to update the knowledge here with http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...ghlight=Hublot

As it seems for the standard big bangs, the movement is still the 7750 and not the ETA 2894 as indicated. Perhaps that is for the classic Fusions? Anyway, for anyone who may be wondering, this puts it to rest.
