CWC G10

Many moons ago, I'm sure I saw in a Silvermans catalogue CWC G10's available with sand coloured or green dials.

Does anyone know, did they actually make these, or did I just dream it?

I remember seeing sand coloured dials somewhere.

I found a couple of old threads on MWR and TZ-UK which reference the different dial colour but no one seems to be sure...

Thank god, someone else remembers them, I really thought I'd gone crackers & imagined it !

I can't believe (a) that I had the chance to but one & didn't & (b) I haven't seen any since ?

I wish I could find the catalogue !

Hi,

First post by a part-time lurker (and a new owner of a Smiths Everest - AWESOME!). I'm having trouble uploading photos of a khaki coloured G10 bought Silverman's in about 2001/2002 for £80-£85 as a birthday present to my brother. It originally came with a khaki-coloured strap.

On reflection I think I should have got a black faced one as it's not an especially legible watch but the fact that no-one here knows much about it, and I'm amazed at the pool of knowledge on these forums btw, makes me think it's rather rare?

Regardless, it's a date version with the following markings on the back:

6645-99
5417362
Waterprotected 5ATM/165ft

Broadarrow stamp marking near crown

If I can figure out the photos thingy, any tips gratefully received, I'll stick 'em up

Nice to know they're real & actually out there, I like that a lot. It's also a Navigator type thus making it even cooler, I envy you owning that.
I'm also kicking myself for not buying one when I could.

Yes lets hope a green faced one now emerges, I'd like to see one of those.

As far as I'm aware having a battery hatch, tritium dial & the date feature makes it a Navigator type.

The MoD Def Standards 66-4 for these watches called for a dial "made of an appropriate non magnetic material..it is to be matt black with white numerals.

So this doesn't meet the DefStan. Perhaps it was a trial run for Army desert use, but it's not a Navigator as issued to the RN for use by navigators - who would have had no benefit from a lower contrast dial like that.
