I don't own nor have ever owned anything by Belstaff.
Eddie
I hesitated a long time on whether to post this here or go straight to the Bear Pit, where it is likely to end but decided to give it a chance to start with
It is obvious that underneath our many differences we share a few common traits, that go beyond our interests in horological matters.
So much so that I am sure that quite a few would possibly admit possessing more than one item on this list:
- A middle end watch, Rolex or Omega
- A German motor
- A Barbour Commander, or at least another Barbour or Belstaff
- A fountain pen or at least a high end biro
Anyone care to add to the list (second hand flip flops and underwear excepted )?
I don't own nor have ever owned anything by Belstaff.
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Jeans. Hand made by virgins, never washed but occasionally frozen.
Always referred to as "selvedge"
Straight edge razor, and of course MX-5.
I hit my ceiling with Omegas
Barbour Gamefair - 40 years old, refurb twice and needing a third
Longines biro
Keep your German cars, I have friends on Guernsey. I'll stick with the Riley thanks.
Nothing on the list for me
Perhaps Im a bit odd
You own something quite commonplace, or mundane... But have the rare & hence seldom seen, tactical version (# also includes anything that's described as "fashioned" in titanium, PVD coated, stealth &/or DPM)
TT
seeing as i already have to wear a uniform i was hoping this thread would not bear fruit in my case, however:
1- rolex and 2 omegas (amongst others)
2- bmw 8 series
3- Antique beigue roadmaster
4- fountain pens: Montblanc 146, GvFC Guilloche and GvFC Intuition
Expensive biros: GVFC Pocket Pen, Montblanc 144 rollerball.
guilty as charged it appears. mind you, i dont wear second hand footwear or hippy jeans or sell my keepers or reduce my collection or have a fantastic relationship with "MY" AD etc etc.
Only the Belstaffs for me although planning on a Cayman next up and sooner or later Rolex will hit my wrist. Now why hasn't my local Rolex AD got the new blue Milgauss in stock yet?
Yup, 4 for 4
Three of those, I sold my German motor to LTF, does that count?
You are going to need some fancy sunglasses and a pair of £300 shoes to complete that uniform
1. Yes;
2. I guess Czech counts, particularly as Skoda are part of VAG;
3. No;
4. I try to avoiding writing by hand whenever humanly possible.
Ralph Lauren polo top, brand new with tags of course
#1 and 2: yes. #3 & 4: no. Underwear and flip flops are new when I buy it and thrown away when finished.
0/4. Perhaps there should be a TZ-UK lower class uniform.
1. You own a Vostok
2. A Japanese motor
3. A coat you bought because you liked the look of it yet you have no idea what brand it is without looking at the label.
4. You have a load of Bic biros which have somehow made their way to your house from work.
Hmm... well done, I have 3 out of 4.
Do these count as a German motor: http://www.bavaria-yachtbau.com
Umm 4 out of 4!!!
Well, I like it here because of the diverse spectrum of people with a specific common interest. But I expect there will be other frequently occurring parallels such as a liking of fine engineering, appreciation of good quality workmanship and a reasonable disposable income.
So:
1. Speedy Pro and SMPc.
2. Merc E350
3. No, but close; Drizabone for me.
4. Sadly too risky; my pens seem to disappear into the ether, maybe to the planet inhabited by biroid life-forms mentioned in The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
- A middle end watch, Rolex or Omega
I own two vintage Omegas, neither of which are even vaguely reminiscent of anything starring Daniel Craig.
- A German motor
Not even close. No motor at all.
- A Barbour Commander, or at least another Barbour or Belstaff
A Belstaff, leather.
- A fountain pen or at least a high end biro
Several fountain pens, I've owned at least one since I was in school.
think we've got another thread about this, except with an mx5 as opposed to the krautwagen
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
It's like deja-vu all over again...
May I refer you to:

Will it have changed much? I doubt it.
Rolex - yes
Omega - yes
Barbour To Ki To 'Skyfall' - yes
VW - yes
Mont Blanc fountain and rollerball - yes
You forgot Loake/Grenson etc!

Are we all this predictable?

Belstaff - ticks
Loakes and Sweeneys - ticks

PRS 82
Jag
Worn leather jacket
Steel Embassy Elite Pen
I am not a number
Gray
Omega
Cabourn
Subaru
Various pens from trade counters , reps or bookmakers.
2 of 4 for me. I don't have a Barbour or Belstaff and I drive an Alfa. But I do have a burr grinder.
2nd hand flip flops?
Three outa four for me (but only 'cos I recently chopped in the 535tdi for a RR Sport!)

Paul
2 out of 4 for me although I do have a Hackett Bikers jacket and used to have a Namiki fountain pen which was beautiful.
Several
Yes
Several
Several
Oh dear.
1) yes
2) don't own a car (which in itself caused a minor scandal between every other house in the area has at least two
3) nope
4) wife has a Mont Blanc but I know nothing about that sort of thing.
Anything where I can get 4 out of 4 is obviously far to general.
If we are trying for a stereotype, we need several more essential bits of kit for the Compleat(sic) TZer.
Shoes for sure, pocket knife, ???
Are we all that predictable?
3 out of 4 - never had a Belstaff (or Barbour).
I do have several pairs of brogues though (and a few hats).
