    TZ-UK Uniform

I hesitated a long time on whether to post this here or go straight to the Bear Pit, where it is likely to end but decided to give it a chance to start with

It is obvious that underneath our many differences we share a few common traits, that go beyond our interests in horological matters.

So much so that I am sure that quite a few would possibly admit possessing more than one item on this list:

    - A middle end watch, Rolex or Omega
    - A German motor
    - A Barbour Commander, or at least another Barbour or Belstaff
    - A fountain pen or at least a high end biro

Anyone care to add to the list (second hand flip flops and underwear excepted )?

I don't own nor have ever owned anything by Belstaff.

Jeans. Hand made by virgins, never washed but occasionally frozen.

    Always referred to as "selvedge"

Keep your German cars, I have friends on Guernsey. I'll stick with the Riley thanks.

You own something quite commonplace, or mundane... But have the rare & hence seldom seen, tactical version (# also includes anything that's described as "fashioned" in titanium, PVD coated, stealth &/or DPM)

seeing as i already have to wear a uniform i was hoping this thread would not bear fruit in my case, however:

1- rolex and 2 omegas (amongst others)

    2- bmw 8 series

    3- Antique beigue roadmaster

4- fountain pens: Montblanc 146, GvFC Guilloche and GvFC Intuition
Expensive biros: GVFC Pocket Pen, Montblanc 144 rollerball.

guilty as charged it appears. mind you, i dont wear second hand footwear or hippy jeans or sell my keepers or reduce my collection or have a fantastic relationship with "MY" AD etc etc.

Only the Belstaffs for me although planning on a Cayman next up and sooner or later Rolex will hit my wrist. Now why hasn't my local Rolex AD got the new blue Milgauss in stock yet?

You are going to need some fancy sunglasses and a pair of £300 shoes to complete that uniform

    3. No;
    4. I try to avoiding writing by hand whenever humanly possible.

0/4. Perhaps there should be a TZ-UK lower class uniform.

    1. You own a Vostok
    2. A Japanese motor
    3. A coat you bought because you liked the look of it yet you have no idea what brand it is without looking at the label.
    4. You have a load of Bic biros which have somehow made their way to your house from work.

Ah, thats a bit closer to home

    How about

    1. You own a Seiko
    2. A Volvo
    3. A coat from Millets
    4. A selection of cheap biros from work

Well, I like it here because of the diverse spectrum of people with a specific common interest. But I expect there will be other frequently occurring parallels such as a liking of fine engineering, appreciation of good quality workmanship and a reasonable disposable income.

    So:

    1. Speedy Pro and SMPc.
    2. Merc E350
    3. No, but close; Drizabone for me.
    4. Sadly too risky; my pens seem to disappear into the ether, maybe to the planet inhabited by biroid life-forms mentioned in The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

    - A middle end watch, Rolex or Omega

I own two vintage Omegas, neither of which are even vaguely reminiscent of anything starring Daniel Craig.

    - A German motor

Not even close. No motor at all.

    - A Barbour Commander, or at least another Barbour or Belstaff

    A Belstaff, leather.

    - A fountain pen or at least a high end biro

Several fountain pens, I've owned at least one since I was in school.

    1) yes
    2) don't own a car (which in itself caused a minor scandal between every other house in the area has at least two
    3) nope
    4) wife has a Mont Blanc but I know nothing about that sort of thing.

  47. #47
Anything where I can get 4 out of 4 is obviously far to general.
If we are trying for a stereotype, we need several more essential bits of kit for the Compleat(sic) TZer.
Shoes for sure, pocket knife, ???
