    WW2 Luftwaffen issue watches

If I was considering buying a WW2 Luftwaffen issue watch , which makes might be available and what is the price range ? I know nothing about German military watches ... hope this is not too general a question. Are there any reputable military watch dealers in UK? I am specifically interested in Luftwaffen watches that would have been issued in or prior to 1940.

    Thanks for reading

    Cheers

    Not at all.

If you are aiming at 1940, you could do worse than start at the top of the line, an IWC cal. 52 S.C. B-Uhr. A bit difficult to find, as only 1,000 were made (all in 1940, though) and obviously not all of the survived the war.

? 20 to 30k should get you one.

    Hope that helps. :)
    Cheers,

Some of the standard type German mil. watches from WWII (dating not so simple as it would rely on the movement number as against the manufacturers records usually)with a 'D' in lieu of a 'DH' on the caseback or 'KM' on the dial, which are more affordable and usually very nice watches, from a variety of makers. The D marking , denotes issuace to the Luftwaffe. Of course many did not have the maker, and were still used. Aircrew often had their own private purchases, so if you like any watch from that era which you like, would be a rather good fit, imho, too by way of another possibility.

    Best wishes,
    AP :)

    Has anyone read this book?

Is it worth buying? Seems a bit expensive for 48 pages but wondering if it could be a useful introduction.

    Cheers

Strong stuff, not cheap, and occasionally incorrect but worth it. I wouldn't called them 'an introduction' ... more of a slice.

This is a Hanhart one-button chrono (pix)------

I see them here in the USA, now, for around $2000 USD...but not for long...

I bought this one approximately 5 years ago for about half that.

    Regards...Joel M
