    It's quality that's why.

Not serious, a bit tongue in cheek but I enjoyed it.

Finally got round to watching Only God Forgives. It's by the same director as Drive (which I enjoyed).

This was slow, painfully pretentious nonsense that is supposed to make the viewer work a bit. Unfortunately that doesn't work unless the film actually has some sense to it.

A mess of a plot (what there is of it), strange editing and annoying shots of people's faces just staring meaninglessly for thirty seconds.

I like some arthouse stuff and I don't mind 'slow' movies at all; in fact, I actually prefer them. But this was just crap.

And if you don't like shocking violence - which I didn't necessarily object to this particular film - definitely do not consider watching it.

I really wanted to like this film. It sounded - and looked - like it was going to be right up my street. But it failed. The only thing I can give credit for is the mood lighting and cinematography.

    1 out of 5 stars.

'Nothing left to fear' is really terrible. The only scary thing is that several people at some point inexplicably thought it would be a good idea to release it..

Man of Tai Chi, which other than the fight scenes was just rubbish. I guess Kneau Reeves is running out of cash to make such crap.

I saw Desperado the other night.

Had Salma Hayek and Quentin Tarantino amongst others so I thought it couldn't be that bad.

    Wrong!

Basically just lots of shooting of the type that propels people several feel through the air and a plotline so thin..........
    Cheers,
    Neil.

I would rather spend two hours T-Bagging a paper shredder then plunging my mangled testes into a vat of salt water than sit through 'Julie and Julia' again.
About as engaging as an afternoon talking cross stitch with your octogenarian auntie and peppered with characters as likeable as the former corpse botherer Jimmy Saville.

The only positive thing I can think to say about it is that since she chose it, my sister in law has been banned from Netflix in my company.

Just checked. Got 7 / 10 on IMBD. Who in the hell rates these things.
I beg at least one person on this forum watches this film to back me up that this is the worst thing to happen to cinema since The Rock decided to. Hang up his wrestling boots.

TOTALLY RUBBISH films you've watched recently...

Sex Tape, an absolute confirmation that sometimes a trailer has all the best bits, in fact the two minutes of the trailer were the ONLY funny scenes in the film the rest was total crap, after around 45 mins we left, it really is that bad.

  27. #177
Snitch with Dwayne Johnson, terrible terrible film.

Second Anchorman 2 also,I'm think they tried too hard.

American Hustle - complete M'eh - a film that thinks it's clever but is actually pretty average

Killing Them Softly - vanity project....here you go Mr Pitt,do what you like. Average at best.

Old Boy - not the original Korean version (which is bloody good by the way) but the U.S. remake with Josh Brolin. Shite.

The Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise (when was the last time you watched him in a GOOD movie?) and Emily Blunt.

Despite the 8.0 on IMDB, I think it's not a good movie. The theme: 'Saving Private Ryan meets Groundhog Day' or better: 'Saving Private Ryan meets The Source Code' is not original and the plot is very thin (to say the least...). Two hours of my life I won't get back.

    Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit.

Jeez. How do these films get funded and made? Shockingly bad. The same as everything Chris Pine's lips have appeared in.

    Maze Runner, super weak IMO

Dolphin Tale 2, my daughters choice :)

The Giver, (no not a gay porn film), just a totally pointless film.

I know I've seen some other terrible ones recently, but I seem to have blocked them from memory at the moment.

Enemy with Jake Gyllenhal - trying way,way too hard to be clever. Even reading up on the interpretation, I'm not really any the wiser. I normally like this sort of thing, but it was pretentious rubbish.

god that was awful, I didn't realise it was the god squad who produced this at first, turned off after 25 mins.

that reminds me, I need to get a mate back for recommending 'The Anomaly' to me, pure drivel start to finish.

    Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy

Bought it after listening to the Wittertainment podcasts where Kermode raved about it.

Had to switch it off after an hour as it was so dull.

to be fair Ach5, I didn't like it first time round, there was too much distraction in the house, I watched it again late one evening and really enjoyed it, might be worth giving it another chance, just for Gary Oldham.

    A Most Wanted Man.

2 hours of waiting for the film to get going, then the end-credits appeared... Utter shite, think Tinker Tailor but at ½-speed, and no plot.

Cheesy, formulaic, one of my favourite films! However, I watched 'Killer Joe' yesterday with Matthew McConaughey (in the film not sat with me watching it) and still do not know if it was carp or genius. Some 'interesting' scenes but I think because I still do not know what to make of it, I think i'll just opt for the latter.
