Watched Jupiter Ascending yesterday, if I hadn't been with my son would have walked out half way through! Nearly as bad as the last Transformers!!

After switching off the dross that is "Birdman" last night, we changed the movie for Keanu Reeves latest effort John Wick, well Keanu did not fayre any better than Michael Keaton and proceeded to get my my Wick for the next 90mins.

Unbroken isn't awful but it is certainly disappointing.

Only incompetence of the highest order from the Director (Angelina Jolie) could take a true story of such determination and courage and turn it into two hours of bland, characterless mush.

    2/10

Predestination - the main plot shocks were easy to guess. Convoluted rubbish although I can see a few rave reviews in the Must watch films thread. Not for me.

    Indeed!

    1 - Good
    2 - Less so
3 - Thankfully it should be the last installment...

For one last time, Mills must use his "particular set of skills," to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now - his daughter.

I watched gone girl at the weekend, was actually looking forward to it as my wife saw it with friends and really enjoyed it. The trailer and reviews (at the time) made it look like a really clever whodunnit with great plot twists. Nope! Got to be the dopiest thriller I've seen in years, shit through with gaping plot holes and the ending is just stupid. The sort of film I can't bear - pretending to be a thriller where it's just daft and unbelievable. In contrast to eg guardians of the galaxy which came straight out saying 'I'm a dumb space movie with great effects and characters just but your brain in neutral' which I really enjoyed!

That was meant to saw shot through but kind of nails it!

Friend said lucy was a great film. So brought the dvd.well first 10 minutes were ok the rest was really awful, and the end was one of the worst endings ever. 2/10 for the first few minutes.

Killer Mountain, on MovieMix earlier this week. It was so bad, I could not turn over - I had to see it through in case it redeemed itself.

    It did not.

    Bought two for this evening.

Last Vegas, which I thought would be a mildly amusing diversion but fancied seeing anyway, turned out to be quite a fun watch.

Escape Plan (Arnie and Sly together - what could go wrong?), which I've been dying to see, was utter tripe.

    The Grand Budapest Hotel❓

    I don't get it.

    The Immitation Game.

Not as good as the bbc production 'Breaking the Code' with Derek Jacobi and Helena Bonham Carter.

    Battleship with Rhianna.

After all the flag waving jingoism at the end they stupidly played Fortunate Son.
    Cheers,

Birdman. How on Earth this film won any Oscars is beyond me. I really wish I had not wasted my time watching this. Then ignorance really would have been a virtue! Do yourself a favour, give it a miss.

    Maps to the stars

, thought it looked like a drama/black comedy based around Hollywood starring the usually very good Julianne moore.

Well when the highlight is a not funny scene of aforementioned actress taking a shit, I can safely say that summed up the overall film!

Why do I let my wife choose films?

Thought I'd have a go at Howl - the film about Alan Ginsberg - before it expired on Iplayer last night. Managed 10 minutes and then switched it off - I suppose just another reminder that the Beat generation is not for me.

Think of it as a poor Independence Day, but at sea.

Ah but Neil, the song's anti-war meaning tallies with the gung-ho 'Muricans being the dumb aggressors during the whole thing!

(I enjoyed the film on first viewing, but it's pretty thin on repeats LOL)

Agreed... HOWEVER, there is something about Eva Green that made me soldier on through the entire film.

Already have and am looking forward to S2 starting in April.

She plays 'mental and unstable' well

...still trying to decide if she is method acting or playing herself.

!!! Really ? Whats wrong with an battalion of crack german troops charging the front of a tank using only light arms until said tank runs out of ammo .. Oh wait! ...i see your point ! :) (that wasnt all that was awful about the ending but for me it was the 'dinner' in the middle of the film that was really bad to watch).

Saw Focus last night - just a dull 'by the numbers' 'thriller' with a thin plot - I've actually forgotten pretty much everything about it within 24 hours! Margot Robbie was pretty, Will Smith dialled in another bland performance. Meh!
