This is DC at its worst.

    2.5 hours of nonsense.

The first one was mediocre, so hoped maybe this one would be better....... but WW2 is much worse.
I enjoyed the first one, kind of decent popcorn film where you can turn your brain off.

But the second, I agree. Just really not good at all. Cliched ideas all put together and blah...

I'm glad it wasn't just me - what a load of stage-Irish gombeenery. The whole thing is predicated on a weak plot device and just goes downhill from there. I can see that the whole cast no doubt had a great time making it and there's some fairly pleasant scenery (not least of which, Kerry Condon - an actress of which I had no previous knowledge). I had hoped for much more given the previous output of the actors & the director.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I guess that's why it's all subjective as I really enjoyed it. On a similar note I remember all the hyperbole about 'The Revenant ' . What a load of absolute tosh. It could have been written by an 8 year old. Didn't even bother finishing it but it was an absolute blockbuster in viewing numbers.

Top Gear America... I know its not a FILM !! but Avoid this like the plague.

was round a pals that's a car nut, and we watched two 30 minute episodes. (forced ourselves on the second episode in case it was better) but no we both thought it was complete pants.

much worse than the UK TG, which is now pretty terrible too.

    Blacklight (mentioned previously).
I watched half an hour of it and had to quit, it was beyond bad. Liam Neeson was good in Taken (or maybe Taken was just a good film despite Liam Neeson), but that doesn't mean he's now a top action star to headline these CIA/espionage style movies.

I also managed the newest Matrix movie, although it took three sittings (the first time I had to switch it off to google the original and catch myself up on Modals and this White Rabbit stuff, the second time I fell asleep).
No spoilers, but I got to the end wondering.... what was the point? Cheap cash-in? Visually great but I felt pretty cheated at the end.

Really that is a bit of a surprise about the Revenant, I thought it´s one helluva tale, pretty well told as well. Watched it a couple of times now. As you say though it´s all subjective.

Banshees of Inisherin, I couldn´t be bothered to finish.

Also surprised to find someone negative about the Revenant. I was an avid reader from quite young and one of my favorite stories was that of Hugh Glass and his heroic recovery from a bear attack, I think it was in some anthology of Wild West legends which also included stories of 'Curly Bill' Brocius, The Earps and many more.

Second that, I thought it The Revenant was a very good movie, and when Leo Caprio gets mauled by the bear and left for dead it it was a very powerful scene. Good story well told.

However a film i thought terrible was DREAMLAND, which was an example of lazy film making.
The whole plot could have been compressed into 20 minutes.
This sort of 'bonnie & clyde' romp needs to be fast paced, and not wrapped up in over emotionalised relationships of the characters. it was well acted by Margot Robbie, and Finn Cole, but was just missing a properly involved plot.

Saw 'Plane' last night starring Gerard Butler.

What a waste of film budget money! Such a poor story badly laid out and ridiculous ending sorry it's a 2/10 for me

  10. #1310
watched THE LIGHTHOUSE on catch up.

Worst film i've encountered for some time, ABSOLUTE DRIVEL

Well acted by Robert Pattinson, and Willem Defoe, but the film was 2 hours of utter nonsense. Psychological horror ....... no just a horror to endure this hogwash

Strangely I enjoyed the film, in a leave brain out of gear type of film.

It's over two hours long, actually. In truth, it seems longer.

Ha, I just assumed 90 mins. 2 hour is a bit long!

My wife was engrossed but I was on the other sofa scrolling while it was on.

For the first time, I thought Idris Elba was looking a bit old. If it was intended to be a Bond audition, it was nowhere near as good as Layer Cake.

Entertaining twaddle though, and Luther always was a bit far fetched.

The latest Ant-man was as disappointing as everyone says, and I have a high tolerance for trash when viewed in IMAX 3D. There was something about the story structure that felt like, ‘Now we’re going to dreamland where anything could happen and nothing really matters and who cares anyway?’ The fact that they were introducing the next Marvel super-villain for their other films is worrying, given that he had no discernible character.

Agreed. Glad I didn’t spring for the VIP seating. Just seamed like a cash grab filler movie.

Last night I struggled through 'Luther' on Netflix. This is the movie adaption of the acclaimed TV series. I have never seen any of the TV series and will make a point if not doing so.

The TV series is night and day compared to the movie. I’m a huge fan of the series but thought the movie was two hours of my life I won’t get back. Give the series a try, it’s well worth it.

  36. #1336
The Luther film was utter pish. The TV series is much, much better, helped enormously by Ruth Wilson, who is a great actor and while it is far fetched, the scripts are believable, which really helps you to suspend disbelief.

I've seen adverts for the film but don't have Netflix. I think so highly of the series that I was in hopes that the film may come out on dvd. I'll give that a miss based on these comments but I would suggest that you forget about the film and try the series. They are very good.

Benicio Del Torro and Olga Kurylenco so thought it might be worth a watch but i found it too slow, boring and somewhat odd.

Too many to list! I consider myself a film buff and would typically stay watching despite how gash it was, however recently time's been short so 15 mins max and then chop if it ain't tickling my balls.

That mess that won all the Oscars last week is one for starters, utter nonsense. Guess I just don't like abstract fantasy films.

    Hustlers

starring Jennifer Lopez and several other people.

how to make a film about strippers tedious and predictable. the plot was based on a true story, but no doubt embelleshed somewhat.

sadly a waste of 2 hours.

I finally got to the end after three sittings of this. Genuinely a beautiful movie, look past the craziness and it’s a movie about acceptance, love, reconciliation and being true to yourself. That may sound trite but ultimately the craziness of the movie all comes down to love and acceptance.
