Very nice! I'd be hoping size wise for something like the 29A. Max 37mm, ideally smaller. Love the small seconds, hands and indices. Sapphire glass if possible please chief.

No, they don't use this style. They only use intetwined initials together with the sphinx plus it's a completely different typeface.

That would be nice, but I can't remember seeing a watch with the 6498 that was under 42mm in diameter (without crown).
Sorry Eddie, I wasn't very clear. I was asking whether they owned the intertwined logo - rather than commenting on yours. The answer appears to be that they do - hence your choice of linked AS.

I like it, especially the movement choice. I'd perhaps thin down the markers or have a more readablecolour for them with the hands. Silver on white can be hard to read.

The watch I absolutely love (Zenith 135..one of my long time lusts), but the art deco logo looks cheap.
If it's 37/38mm, but no more, then I think you have a winner.

Well...at any size it's lovely. Those indexes are sublime. A welcome return to elegance.
I can see what the thinking is on a smaller size… very similar in a way to a watch that I'm looking at for my 40th. But I think this would work at a larger size really well - with the arrow head hour markers it would look stunning..

37 is max for me on a dress watch, having tried 39, it is just too big for me being all dial, looks wrong.
That looks lovely the Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire? after their classy 50's saloon/ limo which was more expensive than the equivalent Daimler or Jag of the day.

As I recall the bulk of the ire at the CW offering was directed at it's depth (or thickness I suppose!). The CW watch is 13.5mm thick - the movement itself is a beastie. Think of a Unitas with an auto rotor bolted on top.
The Unitas is something like 4.5mm thick on it's own, about the same as a 2824. It all depends on the details of the case but there's no reason it can't be appreciably thinner than the CW watch and potentially a millimetre less diameter or so.
edit: just remembered I once had a Dornblueth 99.1 - it was a 42.something mm watch that was around 12mm thick and wore very nicely as a larger dress watch so I don't see why not...

One with Unitas, and the other with Peseux 7001, it is much smaller (23.8 mm, 2.5 mm high).
Looks good, but at 40mm+ would be too big for me as a dress watch.
Ah well.
Its odd… I never look at a watch as a dress watch or a sports watch… I'd wear a watch like this with jeans or a DJ. Maybe a diver doesn't go with evening wear but I think a smarter piece can always go casual.

gotta agree with naming the watch smiths astral - it builds on your previous work and is another classic smiths.never heard of armstrong siddely.....basically you can't go wrong with the unitas movement although i understand the concerns with the size and being a classic dress watch.
A modern Smiths Astral dress watch would be nice. 40mm would be OK but more would be too big IMHO. Of course a lot depends on the case design.
When i owned a Stowa Marine Auto i came to realise that there is some kind of golden ratio in watchmaking. Unlike its mathematical equivalent it can only measured subjectively and defies concrete definition. It's most proficient exponent worked at Rolex in the 50s and 60s and some of his disciples drew up the defstans.
The rule has many facets but an important one is that too much free space on the dial is; initially quite striking, briefly pleasing and then rather dull.
I'd say that's a great thought, I think (almost) everyone could do with a good quality strong design understated dresswatch.......
