    Hunger Breaks

I have recently priced out of buying the rather delicious tins of Crosse & Blackwell Hunger Breaks - £1.75 per tin at Tescos

However I have found that Home Bargains sell them for 89p per tin

The three types I'm aware of are 'Full Monty', 'All Day breakfast' and 'Mixed Grill'

I favour the Full Monty - Which is your favourite?

I don't care what you are eating but would rather like some of what you are smoking. Jamaican Gold?

have to say I've never heard of these things, just going by the names, I would pick the Full Monty but isn't that the same as an All day Breakfast!

Cut out the middleman and just empty the tin into the toilet.

All day breakfast is my favourite, followed closely by the mixed grill.

At 89 pence a can, you can't go wrong :-)

Edited to say that on reflection these may taste wonderful. I just don't know.

Just asked my missus about these, there's even more types apparently. The Big BBQ, The Spicy One, The Full Works and The Bacon Sizzler. Oh and a Texan Chilly range.

    What?!?
Not even Heinz baked beans (not as good as they used to be) or Heinz Tomato soup???
    I don't believe it.
Chilli, Bolognese usually use canned ingredients for convenience.

I have examined our cupboards and kidney beans and tuna are the only two I use! More accurately I refer to having a 'meal' from a tin! Are you still living in an air raid shelter?

No not me - I shudder at the thought of a meal in a tin.
I just found your claim of never from a can a bit hard to accept... but had I given it more thought, I'd have known you meant the complete meal concept.
I'd bet a fiver you've never "enjoyed" a Fray Bentos pie either?

But it's amazing what you'll eat when the only cooking facility is a camping primus stove .

Ahhh all becomes clear: search you must, for beans only, then hunt for wild garlic leaves, and field mushrooms, and eggs of chicken or duck. Then you will have a good breakfast. Ate this delicacy when on a bicycle trip around Cornwall, generally when still full of beer from previous night.

    Snob!
If you've never tried one you might be missing a culinary delight (...you're not), but you could have been.
I'm off to Rome next week & its occurred to me I've never tried Campari... I don't anticipate liking it, but one should try things at least once.
    Luton Airport anyone.

You don't have one of these on a Sunday? It's home style goodness...it says so right there on the tin.

As a camper I've eat all sorts of cuisine from a tin but that looks disgusting, just look at the gelatine around it....it makes my guts turn just looking at it.

you need to add an option to the poll: are you kidding me, I would rather spend some personal time with Cilla and his hats.

I love technology which can provide a whole chicken in a can should you ever need one - and also the opportunity to try something you'd never, in your life, thought about eating - such as Mole Crickets... what are they, are they delicious/nutritious and do they taste different tinned as opposed to fresh?

Canned chicken, only if I had to to survive... but canned mole crickets, a delicacy unseen on these shores?

Surprised with you been Army bloke

When I went on Survival in the late 70's, the tinned compo rations were superb

The tins of fruit cake, beans and sausages, oxtail soup were my fav, I never got used to 'mock Turtle soup' lol

They probably tasted nicer after three days of eating only what you could find or kill

I've retained my love of tinned food from then I suppose. If you can eat cold beans straight from the tin without gagging your hooked for life

The trick is with these to take two of the sausages out and throw them away then add another small tin of ordinary beans with loads of Lampong pepper - a very distinctive flavour - oh and never buy the large tins - they do taste like cr**.

Of course it is, but since when does that stop anyone eating anything that tastes nice and takes 30s to 'make'?
