One sold earlier this year on there for about £1100.00

I think the release of the PRS-21 has affected the status of the PRS-2.

Priced spot on I'd say, I bought mine last year, a completely full set with a spare NOS bezel and spring and paid almost slap bang in the middle of the start and buy it now price of that one.

It’s really nice to see a complete set and it looks in very good condition too.

Very strange bidding indeed. Brand new account with a Detroit address buying it as a gift for their friend in Greece.

Unsurprisingly I haven't been paid yet.....!

If ever I'm selling something of fair value on the bay and see a suspect bid come in, for example overseas and little or no feedback or not had feedback in a very long time, I cancel their bid and block them straight away. If they're serious they'll get in touch but no point in messing around with timewasters and con artists. Be interested to see if you do get paid.

Well they've contacted me to say that they will pay tomorrow evening......

    I shan't hold my breath.

I wasn't watching the auction or I might have rejected the bid.

    Angry

You'd think with the amount of money that ebay makes, it could invest a little in stopping this sort of scam account use. It wouldn't take much effort to restrict new accounts, with zero feedback, from bidding on higher end items until they had proved to be worthy accounts. It just wastes everyone's time and occasionally costs unwary sellers a lot of money.

I was the only other bidder on this auction; having made an opening bid, to register my interest if you like, I made a second bid a few days later of what I thought was a serious and hopefully winning amount, as I would not be around when the auction finished.

You can imagine my disappointment and annoyance, when I discovered I had lost out on acquiring one of my grail watches to an obviously bogus bidder.

Thankfully Paul (Wardy), has offered to honour what would have been my winning bid, if as he suspects, the other bidder turns out to be a scam artist. So all may turn out well in the end.

I'm sure the bogus bid put a lot of people off, it was stupidly large and would have freaked out all of the sniping software too.

I shan't chase them for payment, so if they don't pay by when they said they would we can start the ball rolling and the Dreadnought will go to a good home like I'd hoped it would.

And so the games begin............ direct email claiming to have paid for the watch and can I ship today........ funnily enough ebay and paypal disagree currently.......sigh.

I said I'd give them 2 days from winning the auction to pay, roll on this evening when we can end this (most likely farce!)

You can do this already - I sold a watch recently and if you go into the options, you can restrict who can bid. If you want to apply to all of your auctions:

Account settings >>> Site preferences >>> Buyer requirements

I use it for all my auctions due to time wasters.

Is this the same as the one that just appeared on the bay again?

    Thanks,

No it isn't. That's a strange one, why would someone obscure the edition number?

To hide the fact that they bought it less than a week ago, possibly?

    That is my auction.
Limited number hidden to deter someone reporting it as lost/stolen to insurance which has happened before.

Ahh, I see, I read it that the number actually was obscured on the watch. My mistake, it's getting late LOL

Well, after the unwanted attention of a would be scammer, #91 has landed at her new home and I couldn't be happier, she's a stunner! Many thanks to Paul for sorting out the skulduggery and honouring the original auction, a real gentleman.
