Here's a not often seen 7A38-701B Chrono just back from service with Duncan. This is the mythical but debunked Vulcan:

I’ve the orange, black and pepsi all from that date and the teal would be perfect to go with them as a birth year & month set.

Sadly Ian these all seem to have been produced in December 1984 from what I've read. That makes them pretty scarce but I'd like to find one to add to my ever growing 7548 collection.

I didn’t know they had such a small production ‘window’, no wonder they’re never seen!

Spoke to a very nice lady the other week, do you still service the 4S15-6000 from the mid 90s. Let me check Sir, yes we do, send it down to us. Around 10 days later not a peep from them so I ring them again.

The response, your watch was only made for the Japanese market so we have never been able to work on those as we don't have any parts. We have spoken to the service centre in Hong Kong and they can't help either. Would you like me to send the Watch back to Japan to see if they can help, it will cost £72 just to send it to them, but no guarantees they will be able to help.

My response was two fold, firstly, were you actually going to bother telling me this and secondly can you just send it back. They did, second class signed for - the bas***ds.

All I wanted was a basic movement service, nothing else. Just clean it, lubricate and ensure the timing is good.

Anyway, not a fan of the Seiko Service Centre.
This would suggest that they routinely change certain parts ( that they don’t have ) as part of a service.
    Cheers..

Perhaps, which would be madness on this particular model. Fair enough if consumables in the movement need replacing, but I wouldn't want the dial, hands, crystal or crown replacing - even if that meant accepting that normal pressure testing couldn't be done properly. I think it would be the last watch that you would consider jumping in water in.

Duncan can do a movement service, but has an 18 week waiting time at present, which is why I spoke to Seiko. I need an independent who can service the movement and little else.

For reasons that I cannot work out, they adjusted the bracelet at the clasp. I couldn't get the Watch on and thought someone had pinched a link. All very strange.

Send it to Duncan, The Watch Bloke, here in the UK. He is the best.
Btw... I’ve got exactly the same watch.

Thanks Jim. He is the logical choice and I have had exchanges with him, but his 18 week waiting list is a little off putting.

I do have all three models, so it might be worth taking the plunge and send them all off and get them done at the same time - then look forward to Christmas.

You haven't got any spare 18mm bracelet links by any chance for that watch or a spare Z clasp?

Interesting, I sent a Seiko to them to be looked at under warranty as it was running very slow. Came back having been checked but a few months later (warranty now out) same problem again I also noticed a lovely big fingerprint on the rotor. Sent it to Duncan who checked it over and it looks like it was simply a watch that had sat on the shelves and the oils had got bunged up so needed cleaning and serviced (Which Duncan did) also got rid of that horrible fingerprint. Watch came back running absolutely spot on but just goes to show, Seiko probably just regulated it without bothering to check what the actual problem was and sent it back (fingerprint no extra charge)

Tried to capture the different colours on the watch depending on the light. Looking head on it’s solid but with shadows and more light it does show a variety of different hues.

I’m very pleased so far with the orange and gold as I wasn’t sure how it would look in person.

The radius of the bracelet matches that of the lugs both from above and from the side, if that makes sense. Another pleasing design detail from someone at Seiko.
I really like this. What's the model number? Like the saw tooth bezel, blue dial and metal bezel on metal case look. Bracelet looks nice too.

I recently had the opportunity to buy one but decided not to because I did not like the look of the cyclops over the date window. The cyclops kills the overall look and feel of the watch IMHO.

    Hi guys,

I want to show you a nice watch I gave my youngest son for his birthday, Seiko SNK805K2, an automatic military watch.
I know, this is not a great watch, but I needed a small, not flashy timepiece that a seven year old boy could appreciate. Then, I didn’t have great expectations about it, but I admit that the watch is a very good article if I consider the price it cost.
Seiko SNK805K2 has a slim stainless steel case (diameter 37 mm, thickness 13 mm) and this is probably the first reason I chose it: it fits very well in small wrists, perfect for a child.
The watch has an attractive appearance, the green dial gives a very military and sporty look. Someone could think that these kind of watches appear like toys, but I assure you that it looks great.
As a watchlover, when my wife wanted to buy a quartz watch, I horrified and insisted for an automatic one. Fortunately, I won this “domestic struggle”. The movement works very well and the appearance is quite good.
I gave the watch to my son some months ago and now he loves it, it’s always on his wrist. I hope he will become a watch lover just like me.
What do you think about this purchase? Do you like the watch?
