It's dead easy, Ryan - I've done dozens myself. It's a bit daunting, first time, but once you've got the knack, it's literally a 5 minute job. It is possible to polish out lighter scratches in a Seiko Hardlex crystal, but it really isn't worth the time, effort (and potential cost in polishing materials) - not for a common-or-garden flat round crystal like this one, particularly when you can get an almost identical appearing replacement off the shelf. I'd only consider polishing a couple of the obsolete NLA double-domed crystals found on other more obscure Seiko 7Axx models and then only as a last resort.

A high street jeweller will try to charge you upwards of 25 Quid to replace that crystal - and I doubt he'd go to the effort of finding that Sternkreuz - more likely just bang in any old 32.0mm Ø x 1.5mm generic mineral glass without the polished bevelled edge of the original. For that money you could buy the crystal AND a press to install it with - then you're set up. Alternatively, you could buy the crystal from Cousins and ask if there's a friendly TZ-UKer who lives locally and would fit it for you.

Can you tell it has weird faceted glass? The watch cost me about 4 pounds, the crystal 3 times that... after about 3 months searching :)

I changed the crystal on my 7A28 last week and it took me around 15 minutes. I took my time as it was my first attempt but it all went to plan. Must say a big thank you to Paul as it was reading one of his posts that gave me the necessary info to do it.

I presume you are Eoin from Boards? The model number is SNAE67P1. If you are in Dublin, Weirs had it on display the last time I was up past them. They are charging €500 for it! Cheapest place I could find it at the time was amazon for £200 or there abouts.

This one today actually. Lovely glossy black dial and white inlays on the hands and markers makes it a bit different...
