The only Seiko I have, but it's nice enough to be keeping the U1 off my wrist when I want to wear a tough as old boots watch.

Super pic of a classic seiko!

    Modified SKX007J.

I had this bead blasted because I didn't like the shininess of the case, and I think it's a much better tool watch for it, particularly when paired with a Timefactors NATO - the brushed steel fittings are a great match for the case.

I don't wear this enough, and when I do I always wonder why that is. It has great presence, is super comfy, lovely clear dial and attracts a lot of comments. For the cost, I can't think of many better tools watches than these.

This last is my most worn, ugliest, most favourite Seiko. It is also the one I have the most compliments for, and the one I have the most outstanding offers to buy. Non-wissers are a funny lot!

Just been scavenging round the house, trying to find this. Found it and then realised that it's one of the best-looking and, indeed, best watches I've ever had.

Forgive the double post, but, hey, the watch is worth it.

Ah Yes - a 7A38-7070. Of course, we've had this conversation before, haven't we ?

There are still plenty about on eBay. It's just a matter of finding a half-decent unmolested example at a reasonable price. Here's one, a comparative bargain picked up by a 7A38 forum member recently - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111342764561

My apologies - I'm sure we had exchanged PM's about it.* But if we did, I've cleared them out.

I certainly remember that particular 7A38-7070. It was the subject of a 3 page thread on my forum:

    http://www.seiko7a38.com/apps/forums...cement-ideas-?

Towards the bottom of the first page, you'll see where Chris Rennie modded it, with a shaved repro' Arnie insert.

*Edit: In hindsight, it may have been Ian (BackwardPoint) I had the PM conversation with.

Glad to see you found one, Ryan - even if it is on a NATO.

All you need now is a Sternkreuz p/n XMF 320.927 crystal - available from Cousins UK.

Did you see how that photo of your Precista PRS-17c you posted came out (distorted), before I 'tweaked' it for you ?

Do yourself a favour - get yourself a Photobucket account. I can't even log into either of my Flickr accounts any more.

    See you've fixed it now.

Thanks Paul. It did come with the original bracelet, just giving it a run on the NATO as the bracelet requires a good clean. Plus I think it looks pretty good on the NATO

Thanks for the crystal reference, is it an easy job to replace the crystal on one of these ? Is there any chance of polishing / re-finishing the existing mineral one ??

It does have a slight issue with the centre chrono but it seems to work fine when on the wrist (warm) so I am guessing it needs a service / oil.

    Ryan
