My first Seiko, but I'm sure it won't be my last. The quality of the finish is fantastic for the price.

A quick tale... due to over indulging in the watch habit I've sold a few to make a dent in the 'paying for them' column. I considered maybe I should sell just one more... maybe the 7C43 I got from Neil

First I thought I might re-align the insert which is ever so slightly off cock... So I set about carefully removing the bezel ring... no problem. It's only when I see some very encouraging and old grime that I began to realise what a great unmolested 7C43 this is... I looked at the notoriously hard to remove crystal retaining ring, and it's clearly never been 'tooled' with.

Needless to say, a little gentle cleaning and greasing took place and bezel put back, now moving more crisply... but still with the original insert untouched and ever so slightly "Seiko off centre"
Thanks Brad, yours is a wonderful example and I’ve had mine well over 10 years and only bought the other one (your watch) as I missed mine so much for the few months it was away at service. The replacement was such a nice example that I kept both for ages before realising they were practically identical and could fund something else if I sold.

I just love this design and the previous model the 7548 and picked up yet another 7548, a 700B from 1978 this week. Not mint but in great condition for a watch used to the full as intended and from the original owner who was able to give the history of where he dived in it. All totally original too even down to the very worn but actually really comfy 40 year old rubber strap.

It’s great fun tracking them down and they won’t break the bank at the moment but prices are sure to rise.

I’ve still got a few models to find before I’m done.

    Cheers
    Neil

Yes, the SLA021 bought from here. I did have the SDBX017 version previously but the ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal of the SLA021 really transform the watch. Do miss the bezel pip though.

Ahh just something to fall out! I have been tempted a few times by the MM and that one does look a peach. Only issue I might have is that it does look awfully large and tall. Does it wear all of its 44mm?

It is very tall, there's no hiding it. I never wear it with a suit at work, not even on the bracelet. It's too much. It is odd though as it doesn't take up a lot of surface area, the bulk is all in the height/thickness. Some comparison shots below.

^^^ That dial is very lovely. And it's a (pleasingly) unusual dial layout even for a GS.

Just got this save the ocean Samurai which I had been looking at for a few weeks before giving in.

Have to say I love drilled lugs so off came the bracelet and I have tried on a few straps.

It's hard to capture how nice the dial looks with my phones camera. See if you can spot the shark fins :-)

The bezel also is a highlight for me with it's applied sections.
I have been hankering after a Samurai for a few years now and I'm very pleased I got this

Those dial and dials and spring drive

Great pics, the GS dial are amazing and the sweeping seconds hand of spring drive..... I can feel a purchase approaching.

Whats the bezel insert made from? it looks like it's more than painted aluminium.

  47. #6147
This is a bit of a unicorn watch these days and unfortunately I’ve hardly ever used it since I received it about 3-4 years ago as the crystal is scratched and it needs a movement service. I’ll get it done though as the dial is spectacular! The very best of all the 6R15 SARBs in my view.

Any excitement about the news that a new release of Alpinists is due out in early 2020?

    https://www.seiyajapan.com/blogs/new...ck-in-jan-2020

Looking forward to seeing the Black and White versions, but no images yet. If there's a God, people will start to offload their old SARB013 and 015s - but I suspect not.

Improvements promised, along with a price hike. It would be nice if they offered a limited edition set of all three together.
