Wow ,congratulations ,that’s gorgeous and to my eyes more attractive and subtle than the yellow/gold dial version.
Great find and good to know these 40+ year old examples are still out there in this kind of condition.

    Cheers

Great photos. Is the last one the necessary diet to be able to wear the mm300 comfortably?

Thanks, they are all taken with P20 pro, and they are all without filter except the boots one.
And yes, that's the diet doctor prescribed, who am I to question that ;)

Glad to see my inspiration paid off. I hope your sister likes it? The wife hasn't missed a day wearing it since Christmas.

thanks for you reply (apologies it's taken me so long to respond ... wanted to wait to see what Seiko said):

well, the good news folks is that my Seiko SPB083J1 "Great Blue Hole" is back home. Doesn't it feel goooooooooooood when these babies are back?! :)
the dial/date problem has been sorted out.
The repair note from Seiko said that the problem was caused by "G'tee correction" ... it's written in hurried hand-writing, so i can't be 100% sure that that's what it *actually* says. TBH, it makes NO sense to me ... but if anybody is happy to translate, then I'm all ears. [It could perhaps also read, "G 'ree correction".]
Anyway, I'm extremely pleased with the result! I big thanks to Dipples [Norwich] for helping me out, and being so very understanding.

I'm umming-and-ahhing about modding to MM300 hands. Plus, i wonder if Seiko have plans for a green dial version ... if so, then I really can't see me being strong enough to "RESIST" [if you forgive the 6139 pun] ... and I'll so be in the dog-house ... AGAIN!

Yes, thank you! She loves it. Her first mechanical watch. Couple of problems with adjusting the bracelet links and the catch coming open, but hopefully it will be tough enough to survive her daily wear!

I never warmed up to the Sumo because of the case shape and the bezel.
This mod is therefore a revelation: great looking Sumo hands and dial on an SKX case and bezel - fantastic combo!

My first Seiko, bought by me new in 1973 (7019-5000)....

And a quartz 3803-7040 from a year earlier, that I could not have been able to afford at the time, it would have cost me about three months salary!

the mm600 is indeed a great design from Seiko except not those hex screws but the bezel and 12 hour marker to me.

Might be kinda too thick to some but it really comes with great value for all the features.

Too bad my used has its hex screws ruined and this always hurts every time I look at it.
