Bit late to the party but here's my contribution...

Goes with me on every flight. Rarely use the chronograph function as it's just too small to read in the cockpit but I find the dial really clear for obivously telling the er, time.

    One of Mine

Here is one of my Seiko family , i belive it is a 1973 Chronograph Automatic, could"nt really get a good picture of the back but it has 732220 stamped
    and around the side 6139 - 1060
I have no history about servicing etc.. but she runs really well and the chrono is spot on very crisp and straight back to the markers
Anybody with any more info please ?

    cheers Wayne...

LOL. My first thought on reading this was 'Picky!'. My second thought was to laugh at that first thought and to think 'FFS what are we like ...?' (all of us).

Why the SBDC027 is a limited edition I don't know. It'd still walk off the shelves without the scarcity.

First number is the year of the decade. Second number is the month up to September (1-9) where then it continues: 'O' 'N' 'D' for 'October' 'November' 'December'.

The rest I think is the number of that particular watch in the amount produced in the month.

That 50th anniversay Seiko sbdc027 is v nice. Sorely tempted to blow the money on one from Japan, but too sensible (read skint) to do so!

The beginning number denotes the year in the decade the watch was produced. You have a watch from the 70s and the number 7 means 77. If yours started with a 2, it means 72, not that it was from 1920s. :)

The confusion comes when a couple of their watches cross over two decades... Is it an 85 model, or 75 for example. I can't remember which models do this. Maybe a 6309 could start with 9 and could be manufactured in 79 or 89.

Yeh think yours is a 6139 7060. Not 1060 as you posted. Some info out there on it doing a quick Google search.

Decent watch, some look a little garish but yours is the nice of many variants I think. Although I hate bracelets so I'd see what it's like on a g10.

But with 2'000 pieces sold, chances should be quite good to still get one on ebay.

Bought this brand new in 1994 and still going strong, one of the best watches I have ever purchased.

and this old beater 5 that I had forgotten about until I saw this thread.

Oh very nice! Has a lot aesthetically/visually in common with Seiko's Credor chronos (Phoenix models?).
