Thanks matey. Sadly I don’t know what the brand of the strap is, but if it’s the colour you like I can tell you that it’s actually green

There are so many "fakes" around

Have you got a check list of what to look out for when identifying fakes v originals

(I know all your were original)

Not really. I have yet to see a fake dial that is very good though (but I haven’t been paying attention much lately so things might have changed?). Perhaps JimW knows more? There is some discussion about the dials here: https://www.thewatchsite.com/threads.../#post-1156410

I'd also be interested to see a list as well.
I was actually looking at these today prior to seeing this thread and saw SL's previous posts and the pics posted during its service.

I'd love to own one but it's tough to find a genuine one.

I've seen fakes with 700J etc on the dial.

    Any tips greatly appreciated :)

  15. #6665
There’s a digital minute track around the edge of the dial that you use the bezel against.

But I don’t think I’ve moved the bezel more than once tbh. Looks good though

Apart from the usual - bevel around the date/day window, length of 6 marker and the A in Japan, I think the main thing to look for is the quality, size and spacing of all the print on the dial, and the quality and texture of the lume...... and the rear of the dial, (which you cannot see unless you take it out of the case), then the bezel insert and hands need to be looked at

Ah yes, I did spot that after I’d posted and wondered if that was how it worked. I couldn’t believe that Seiko would create a piece that was only for aesthetics.

It does look good though. I do like it! What’s the model number?

Fancied trying one of these for a while. Spot on alignment, which was a surprise!

    New arrival from the forum.....

I’ve always liked a cream dial, but often found it difficult to see the hands in poor light. Seiko have got it cracked with this one.

    Hi Mike,

What model number is the one on the right please? I remember buying that watch for my dad with my first full wage packet years ago!

    Many Thanks

    Hi Rich

Its the 7A38 Chronograph.... I understand there were quite a few variations of this model around that time

    Hope this helps

Today my trusty SKX009 which I've had for years and my 'go to' holiday watch which is probably the most travelled of all the ones I own.
Bezel has taken on a nice sun faded look

    Thanks
