Latest Seiko arrival - sne518p1 ‘save the ocean’ special edition solar tuna for Fabien Cousteau foundation - here with my spring drive tuna sbdb013 and turtle

Surprised & pleased to see it has luminous indices for first 15 minutes on bezel too - even my spring drive tuna doesn’t have that

    Cheers
    Steve

That's so cool. I might buy a "golden" Seiko once (thinking about the Stargate in rosegold). Do you wear it often, or is the wrist presence too much for daily wear?

I really just can’t stop staring at the dial, however the strap is on the wrong way round. I saw that on various reviews and it’s bugging the crap out of me because the strap end keeps catching on things, so I’m changing it round tomorrow as soon as I can be bothered!

Indeed lovely watch! Is the strap actually the wrong way round? Normally it is due to how the deployent works?

No, it’s an SKX031. The Sea Urchin is a Seiko 5 model.

I think so yes, the short end of the strap is on the top side of of all my other watches, including Sinn and Stowa with deployants. With the buckle/strap end on the top of the watch. This is how it looks as standard.

I think it even looks odd this way round! Still, I’ve changed it now and it’s way more comfortable for me.

I had this waiting for me on Christmas day. I've always fancied a modern turtle to go with my vintage birth year 6309-7040.
Have to say this is exceeding my expectations at the moment, the sunburst silver dial in particular is great. Is a nice, low number too - 20.

Given how many of us chaps live in fear of our wives saying, "Isn't that a new watch?" ... this one is a bit different, Christmas pressie from my wife! Definitely a keeper! and the wife is too ;))

    Seiko "Great Blue Hole" SPB083J1 / SBDC065.

Okay, hands up how many noticed the misaligned bezel? worse still, the date is misaligned too :_( i.e. the number almost nudges the top of the date window. Come on Seiko! where's your QC????

In case anybody is interested, I popped along to Seiko in Maidenhead (since I live pretty near by), and they no longer take watches for repair/service via their reception - I'll save my rant for another thread.

    -mykk-

P.S. i can't believe this is my first "show your Seikos". Tut, tut, me!

I’d say you’d get that sorted by adjusting the dial feet, especially as the date is misaligned. It’s very unlikely the date wheel is misaligned as it’s held steady with a pretty strong spring.

To me I’d say the dial feet are probably bent, they could be adjusted so the whole dial would clock anti-clockwise and that’d align the dial with the date and chapter ring.

The wife was lucky enough to get this for Christmas. I'm such a caring husband!

It's a limited edition (like almost all watches nowadays) ladies version of the cocktail time with the same dial inspiration at the Grand Seiko "Snowflake". At 33.8mm it's a nice size automatic ladies watch.

As ever with Seiko watches the dials are very hard to photograph. Here are my best attempts with the phone.

6139-600x Pogues are usually seen with a Black or Yellow dial. Less commonly seen is the Silver dial version.
Here's my 1973 6139-6002 in lovely completely original condition:
