    Rescue

Picked this up off the bay a while back - looking a little sorry
Amazingly I sourced a replacement chapter ring, shroud screws and One of our wonderful members touched up the dial and gave it a sympathetic relume (I should the sent the bezel insert)

This is my MM300. Means a huge amount to me because I bought it personally from Hattori-san's first ever shop in Ginza, Tokyo, on a work trip in 2017. Bit of a pilgrimage for me. Screenshot 2020-05-13 at 19.00.39 by Oscar India, on Flickr

    Aren't they Suwa?

I always thought Daini was more of a lightning streak?

Daini Seikosha signed caseback and Automatic bridge, with the key aspect being the tanned lume which is only found on these Daini signed models.

But why a Suwa signed dial?

This is what I expect of a Daini dial, the lightning streak.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

All three back from a full movement service by Duncan 'The Watch Bloke'. Minty fresh and ready to go.

Was tempted to list them for sale, but need to mull that one over...

How interesting - thanks for that.

So those watches are put together with a mix of Daini/Suwa parts then? Rather unusual I guess as the factories were usually in competition with each other.

A new one on me but I love to learn.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

    Show your Seikos.

    Taken for the Friday thread...

It’s become my go to watch - quartz means it’s always ready, & solar means no battery changes... love it.

(It is a slightly ‘enhanced’ or modded version of the original Solar PADI Tuna)

I enjoy my Seiko autos and have the usual suspects ( Tuna, pogue, skx etc) but I really have started to enjoy the world of quartz and particularly HAQ
They make great dailies or go to watches and it’s interesting to see how dear they were in the 1970s and 1980s with lovely cases to reflect. Modern GS too are addictive with the 9f .94D79568-486F-453D-BB0D-F4F71CF565E8.jpg0524DA10-6F20-4CB5-8C79-AED0C4539187.jpg

This popped up on my FB memories today. It was five years ago!

The 007 on a Strapcode Oyster is still a lovely looking watch.

Recently purchased from messym (Mel) , my Seiko Alpinist sarb017.

My favourite vintage Seiko chrono, the 6138-3002.
Measuring 42.4mm without the crown is a great size for my wrist with a stepped minute marker giving some depth to the dial, applied Seiko logo and a flash of yellow is spot on for me.

    A few 7123's (and a 7122..)........

    Some 7546's......

And a 7803-8000, from 1976 that, from it's style and thickness (5.3mm!), looks like it was made about 20 years later...

Notoriously difficult dial to capture, but I managed a reasonable job with my phone this morning.

Superb - this was my first vintage and I feel it is such a great design. Was smitten so much I had 3 at one point! Alas the bracelet was a hair puller and I ended up keeping my first one. An old pic of mine...
