I agree that they’re super watches and light and comfortable despite the size due to the design and Titanium case. I was fortunate enough to pick up the original watch it’s based on a couple of years back.

They’re very similar indeed really and Seiko did a fantastic job of recreating the original quartz Tuna 40 years later. They made quite a few upgrades for the reissue which include sapphire crystal , higher depth rating, bigger minute hand and shorter seconds hand. Also the shroud is a different material and smooth on the new one, movement is different with a shorter battery life on the 7549 and the new one has slightly bigger lume plots and the bezel insert if different. There’s other differences I’m sure but they’re the most obvious ones that I can think of.

Most would think it was the same watch if they didn’t know the differences (my wife certainly does).

I love them both really and can’t pick a favourite.

    Cheers

My SKX013 has not been worn much lately, my wife used to wear it at one point. It's still an incredibly nice watch, fits me well and feels great on the wrist.

Great watch. Actually wears bigger then mm200 sibling even though is smaller (42.5 compared to 44). I only swapped the hands with newer 62mas models

Today I've gone for a 6306-7001. I always think of these as a slightly better 6309.
Duncan has serviced this one and it seems to run about +2 seconds a day!

I absolutely love the creamy patina of the lume that seems to be a 6306 trademark.

That would also be perfect but when I tried it it was a little small for my taste (I just prefer +42mm divers). I only swapped the hands with spb143 on this spb051. Wears bigger then stated 42.6mm, even bigger then mm200 imo

    A DD sapphire is available
    https://www.seikomods.com/shop/ct061/
I think the original is 29 x1.5 if you want to go down the generic route and probably about a pound from cousins- if your careful the gasket will probably be ok
Thanks also for the encouragement. I took the watch in for the repairs and they have quoted £75 including postage to have a new glass and capacitor fitted.

Very pleased to be having it repaired. One of my favorite watches ever.

    Thanks again.

No problem Gav, I need to list it anyway.

It’s the SRPE35K1 King Samurai for reference. Really nice and a step up from the standard Samurais. Due to the chamfered case, they wear a lot better than their size would suggest.

Beautiful! Severely tempted by the one in SC at the moment, but have too many watches already.

Enjoying time with the SBDC001 while I consider selling it for the -023!
