I have an emotional attachment to the 1960s sunburst grey seiko dials, so this is making me very happy at present.
10/10. Bit small for me but remarkable remakes.

    I like the 6306-7001, I always think the 6306 is a 'better' 6309.
I prefer a leather strap - more comfortable than the OEM rubber strap.

November 1978 6306-7001..... with the lovely creamy typical 6306 lume.

I wandered past Dipples in Norwich yesterday, and noticed they had an SFJ001p1 in the window. I popped in today, and after a nice little discount, I seem to own it.

Not sized yet, I'll do that on Sunday and give it a blast.

I love oddball Seikos; they have a knack of doing the weird and wonderful.

I've often admired those from afar, a cracking watch with that 100th second hand wizzing round!

Very nice Jim, I can remember thinking I’d bought a dud with my first 6306 because of the lume mismatch - until I found out it’s quite common on this model. Might try mine on a vintage leather too…

I do like the look of these watches.

did you look at the other versions of this design?
ie khaki stripe or the all black one?

The hands on the khaki and black are a different colour and look better than your all silver one.
but overall the dial and uniformity of yours looks more statement.

    Hmm decisions......

I looked at the one with the red hands. It was a couple of hundred more, but the clarity wasn't as good.

I'd looked at all of the variety online, but the one I went for was the one I wanted and the one (of two) that they had.

Worn it all day and yesterday evening. Absolutely fantastic piece. Been timing with it today too coincidentally.

The red handed one is the more expensive "Seiko 110th Anniversary ‘Laurel’ Limited Edition Prospex 1/100th of a Second Speedtimer (1 of 3,500)"
    Surprised it is less legible.
    Glad you pointed that out.

    Lovely. That looks unworn.

I love it when the Japanese go full 'mad-bastard-mode' with watch design, and in its day this was one such - it could only be Japanese. My black-dialled example hasn't left my wrist since it arrived - been a bigger hit than I ever expected. Amazed these only lasted two years.

    Show your Seikos.

Well this arrived last week and on first glance and try on I wasn’t convinced partly due to the the possibility of It being too small for my 7.5inch wrist but I thought it looked great and actually wears the same as my 14060 on a rubber strap. It’s now staying:)
Sorry about the Rolex pic on a Seiko thread but it’s just to show the two different watches on my wrist. If you can rock a 14060 happily then you can happily wear a new 62MAS IMHO.

Seiko's "mini diver". Not a 2205 but a 2625. They are so well built and this one is 44 years old in May.

These always seem to be in very good condition, I presume because they were not worn often or very popular due to the small size.
It is a very handsome watch though.

That sounds about right in most cases.

It's a great looking watch and the Seiko built quality back then was spot on with these small cased Seiko Divers watches.

I bought this via SC last summer. I decided to give it a light case refinish a couple of days ago, so that's why this example looks rather nice.

The bezel was taken off as it was a little tight. The gasket was very soft and pliable so a good clean of the bezel and area around the crystal retaining ring (and some silicone grease applied to the bezel gasket) resolved that issue.

I have a question about the dial and the Japan 2625 text between 7 & 6 O'clock - should the As in Japan have a flat top? All the examples I can find seem to have a pointy A which I understand is a red flag on other Seikos.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I believe from a quick google check that it’s around 34mm not including crown. Very nice but maybe a touch small even for my dinky 7.5 inc wrists although saying that is there a too big or too small? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder:)

You must have some eyesight. It does indeed have non flat topped A's in the word JAPAN at the low perimeter of the dial between 6 and 7.

Can you show me the examples of the flat topped A's on a 2625-0010?

The reference is on the case back photograph, so 2625-0010.

The dimensions are 34mm across the case excluding the crown and crown protectors, 17mm lugs, 36mm lug to lug and 10.5mm thick.

    It's classed as a boy's size.

Thank you, that's very helpful - looks like pointy As aren't a red flag on this particular model.
