Looking forward to seeing the Black and White versions, but no images yet. If there's a God, people will start to offload their old SARB013 and 015s - but I suspect not.

Improvements promised, along with a price hike. It would be nice if they offered a limited edition set of all three together.
I’ll be having one of those in black I think. I’ve had the green SARB017 and the colour never did it for me and I’ve enjoyed the similar (but not true Alpinist) SARG001 and SARG005 in white so a black one would be perfect. Saying that I’ve just become aware of the blue ones currently doing the rounds. Very nice.

It certainly is however it was aligned when the mods were carried out so a bit of a cheat. I do love this watch.

Not sure what it's made from but just reading a review on monochrome and it says it's not a full ring but small sections placed on top.

So it's not painted, each section has been applied.

To me the effect is almost like inlaid and it certainly give the bezel a more upmarket look in my opinion.

    Thanks for the info.
Im so tempted by this watch, so much so that its threating my saving for a good chrono.
I have a few seiko's already so I dont need this, but I really really want it!

Perhaps if i offload my ovm in the near future!

I was in the same position as you in terms of I already have a few Seiko's (but not a samurai) and I was saving for a different watch. However I couldn't resist after having a rubbish week I gave in and ordered it.

While I wanted for delivery I thought I might have made a mistake as I didn't need it and as said was savings for something else which I will wait a bit longer for. But when it arrived all that was forgotten. I really like it and find myself wearing it a lot.

The third watch I have worn today.
Watching Deep Purple on German TV clips.

Surely these are the best value and one of the nicest divers around.

When I retired from working in Saudi Arabia, I flew out from Bahrain Airport. Having a wallet full of Saudi Riyals, I was walking around the Duty Free to see what watches they had on sale. The only thing that caught my eye was this Seiko 5.

How do you find the strap?

I've been looking at these for a Christmas present for my father as he's commented on a couple of field watches over the past couple of days. This fits the bill nicely!

I only received this a few days ago, and I know I am still in the honeymoon period, but this watch is just stunning...

    Sorry about the bezel alignment!

I’ve had a few of these and the strap is nice. Beware though as they’re around 45mm and all dial so can appear quite dinner plate-like.

This finally arrived this afternoon from the good old US of A. I had bought the Strapcode bracelet up front and had that for a few weeks. Just finished popping the bracelet on - with loads of masking tape after that thread about the guy who scratched his lugs. Difficult to capture the Blue as it's going dark, need to take some outdoor shots when the sun is shining.

Or buy one from somewhere with free returns as they’re not easy to find on the high street.

That's very nice, must have cost you a pretty penny with shipping and customs fees? Seiko have an annoying habit of releasing their best mid-price level stuff as limited JDM editions lately...

Thanks. As you know it's completely sold out, so had to buy from e-bay.com from a US seller. It was a brand new watch and I did have to pay a small premium, but not crazy money. Most US sellers won't ship overseas - all this conus rubbish etc. The few that would all insisted on using the global shipping program and that added to the cost, but it does give you the added security as e-bay are managing the process themselves.

Unfortunately it's one of those take it or leave it situations, but now it's here and on my wrist I'm glad I bought it.

Well, here's my most recent acquisition, a Seiko Astron. these seem very hard to find in the UK. Seiko's website claims they are for sale in shops up and down the country but that's just not true and I think the only shop that actually has the current range of Astron's in stock is the Seiko Boutique in Knightsbridge!

That aside, this is a lovely watch, light, technical and geeky but doesn't show it too much and I love seeing all the hands whirr away at the present of a button or two. I've done the time swap feature more than a few times just to see this :)

I initially bought this to be worn on NATO straps only. That was 5 years ago. It had been worn on the bracelet, but today is the first time I've tried in on leather strap. I like it.
